Atlanta United have not been the same as last season, and probably never will be. They didn’t win any of their first two matches of the new season. But they will now look for their first win when they will host Philadelphia on Sunday. Philadelphia Union have been one of the biggest disappointments so far in the season. But the truth is that they were also pretty unlucky.

Atlanta United (0-1-1) got stuck at a really frustrating 1-1 draw at home against Cincinnati in their previous match. They actually took an early lead in that match and were the better team. But their opponents pulled even at the 86th minute in their only shot on target. Atlanta United lost by 0-2 on the road against DC United in the opener and are still win-less. But now that they are over with the Champions League they will focus solely on the MLS.
On the other hand, Philadelphia Union (0-2-0) have easily been the least lucky team so far. In the opener they somehow lost to Toronto FC by a harsh 3-1 at home. They deserved at least a point from that match but they got none. In their last match they met another loss, this time by 0-2 on the road against Sporting Kansas City. Philadelphia had the chance to pull even at the 41st minute but Fabian failed to convert. Not only that, but he also saw a red card at the 60th minute. As if that wasn’t enough, Philadelphia scored an own goal at the 80th minute to eventually lose by 0-2.
Atlanta United won both matches against Philadelphia Union last season and are actually undefeated over the years (3-0-1). They have won both home matches against Philadelphia, scoring three goals on both.
Philadelphia would be happy with a draw here and they will be really careful here. I don’t expect to see a lot of goals and Philadelphia can cover the spread. They will be missing their key playmaker in Fabian here, so they will most likely try to kill the rhythm.
MLS Atlanta United vs Philadelphia Union Prediction: Under 2.75 Goals (+101)
