Chicago Fire looked like they were having a nice premiere against the Galaxy but they left Los Angeles empty-handed. They were quite good in their performance but couldn’t salvage any points from that match. Chicago Fire will now play their first home match of the season on Saturday, when they will host Orlando City. Orlando City came back from two goals behind against NYCFC to secure a point.

Date/Time: 3-9-2019, 13:00 EST

Spread: Orlando City +0.75

Total: 3 Goals

Chicago Fire (0-1-0) had a seemingly tough job in the premiere when they had to face the LA Galaxy on the road. It was a pretty balanced first half between the two teams, with scoring chances from both sides. After a goal-less first half it was Sapong who took the lead for Chicago Fire at the 49th minute. But the LA Galaxy pulled even at the 68th minute with Steres, before Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored the winning goal at the 80th minute for the final 1-2. Chicago Fire were really good in that match but were careless after they scored their goal. They will now look for their first points of the season in front of their home crowd.

On the other hand, Orlando City (0-0-1) also did a great job when they hosted NYCFC in the premiere. But they had to fight hard in order to secure a point from that match. Their opponents created fewer chances in the first half but were much more accurate. NYCFC took the lead at the 13th minute with Ofori, before Ring doubled their lead to two goals. Orlando City got their act together in the second half and started their counter-attack. It was Mueller who started the comeback with a goal at the 59th minute, and Akindele pulled even at the 75th minute for the final 2-2. It was a wonderful effort for Orlando City to come back and take a point, but it was at home. They were terrible on the road last season and will not have an easy job against Chicago Fire.

Chicago Fire have the upper hand in this match-up over the years (5-2-4), winning each of the last three. Last season they won one the road by 2-1 and doubled their wins over Chicago Fire with a nice 0-4 in this venue.

Orlando City did great to secure a point from their first match, but they showed defensive weaknesses. The hosts have traditionally been better at home than on the road and are desperate for some points here. Failing to win would push them at the last places of the standings very early in the season.

MLS Chicago Fire vs Orlando City Prediction: Chicago Fire -0.75 (+103)
