The Houston Dynamo made a rather shaky start in the 2019 MLS season but still held for a draw at home. They will now remain there for their fourth consecutive match in all competitions, where they will host Montreal on Saturday. Montreal Impact made a really promising start in the season, escaping San Jose with all three points.

Spread: Houston Dynamo -0.25

Total: 3 Goals

The Houston Dynamo (0-0-1) started the season with a 1-1 draw at home against Real Salt Lake. The hosts were pretty solid in the first half but it was Real Salt Lake who took the lead at the end of the first half. Houston pulled even at the 62nd minute with Manotas but the second half was a rough ride. Even so, they managed to hold out for a draw. But in their most recent match they fell by 2-0 at home against Tigres in the first leg of the CONCACAF Champions League quarter-finals. The Dynamo will be looking to do much better than last season’s 9th place in the Western Conference.

On the other hand, Montreal Impact (1-0-0) started the season on a positive note. They were up against the San Jose Earthquakes on the road and saw them take the lead at the 11th minute. But Montreal were quick in their response, pulling even at the 29th with Piatti. Taider overturned the lead in Montreal’s favor at the 44th for the final 2-1. Montreal Impact will try to do better than last season where they barely missed the playoffs (7th place). Their biggest flaw last season was their inability to win matches on the road. They had just three wins in 17 attempts (3-12-2).

This is a very interesting match-up, with no away wins in 14 matches between the two sides over the years. The Houston Dynamo just barely have the upper hand in this match-up (7-6-1), winning each of the last six as hosts (7-0-1 total).

Montreal Impact did great to win the first match but it was against an ever-struggling San Jose side. Houston are traditionally good at home and are always really tough to beat. The only thing that makes me hesitate is their involvement in the CONCACAF Champions League. They have a crucial second leg coming up in a few days but that doesn’t mean they won’t be competitive here.
