Association Free Preview and Prediction: Rockets at Spurs

Following a second straight win of the Spurs that gave them back the home court advantage after being shocked in game 1, the third-seeded Rockets are hosting yet again the second-seeded San Antonio Spurs in the fourth game of the series.

In Game 3 on Friday, the Spurs used a different defensive tactic and they also saw LaMarcus Aldridge showing signs of life, so they ended up with the road win, reclaiming the home court advantage and taking a 2-1 lead in the series. The Spurs let Harden loose and tighten the defense on everyone else. Harden answered with 43 points, including 30 of his team’s 53 points in the second half, but had only 5 assists, while averaging 12 in the series. Spurs chocked the Rockets defensively, forcing them to shoot only by 36.4% from the floor, out-rebounding them 49-39 and forcing their bench into just 10 points. Ryan Anderson, after leading Rockets in scoring on game three, was held to 2 points in 29 minutes, while Lou Williams was scoreless. The Spurs saw Aldridge playing like his good former self with 26 points on 60% shooting, adding 7 boards, while Leonard added 26 as well, adding 10 boards and 7 dimes. Patty Mills scored 15 in the absence of Tony Parker.

NBA – 05-07-2017 – San Antonio Spurs at Houston Rockets GAME 4

Date/Time:  05-07-2017, 21:00 EDT

Spread: Houston Rockets -6

Total: 212.5

Spurs lead 4-3 the Rockets so far this season. Rockets have a 33-12 home record so far this season, while Spurs are 32-12 on the road. Rockets are better offensively, scoring 115.3 ppg to Spurs’ 105.3, while the Spurs are better defensively, allowing 98.1 ppg to Houston’s 109.6. Spurs also have better percentages both in field goals (46.9% to 46.2%), in 3-pointers (39.1% to 35.7%) and from the free throw line (79.7% to 76.6%). Houston are better on in assists made (25.2 to 23.8) and in rebounding (44.4 to 43.9). Spurs have the momentum now with back-to-back wins and they have found a way to choke Houston’s offense. Rockets will probably won’t shoot so bad again tonight, but in any case the game will be much closer than 6 points, so I’m with the Spurs in this one.

Association Free Preview and Prediction: Play is on the San Antonio Spurs +6 (-113).
