The best and the worse team of the Eastern Conference are clashing today in Chicago, when the Bulls (5-20), who want to extend a rare winning streak they are currently running, are hosting the Boston Celtics (23-5), who want to turn their latest victory into another streak.
Date/Time: 12-11-2017, 20:00 EDT
Spread: Chicago Bulls +7.5
Bulls have a 5-20 record (12-12-1 against the spread) so far this season and currently sit on the last place of the East. They have back-to-back wins and in their last game they won at home against New York with a 104-102 score, beating the odds. They are led in scoring by Lauri Markannen with 14.7 ppg and a team high 8.1 rebounds per game. He is followed by Justin Holiday with 14.1 ppg, while Robin Lopez adds 13.4 ppg and 5.6 rebounds per game.
Celtics have a 23-5 record (20-7-1 against the spread) so far this season and currently sit on the first place of the East. In their last game they bounced back after just their 5th loss of the season by winning on the road against Detroit with a 91-81 score, beating the odds. They are led in scoring by Kyrie Irving with 23.7 ppg, adding 4.8 assists per game. He is followed by Jaylen Brown with 14.7 ppg and 5.8 rebounds, while Al Horford adds 14 ppg and team highs both in assists with 5.3 and in rebounds, with 8.1 per game.
In their ten meetings last season, Boston led the Bulls 6-4 wins including a 4-2 win in the first round of the playoffs. Bulls are 2-8 at home, while Celtics are 11-3 on the road. Celtics are better both offensively, scoring 103.9 ppg to Bulls’ second-worse of 96.9 and defensively, allowing a league-best 96.9 ppg to Bulls’ 106.8. Celtics also have better percentages both in field goals, shooting with 44.8% to Bulls’ league-low of 42.2% and in 3-pointers, shooting with 36.9% to Bulls’ 34%. They are also better in rebounding (45.2 to 44.4), while both teams are equal in assists made with 22.2 each and in turnovers committed (14.2 and 14.4). Even though Bulls are playing better lately they still don’t pose a threat to the Celtics. Vegas odds give Celtics a -7.5 spread and expect them to beat those odds easily.
Boston Celtics vs Chicago Bulls Prediction: Boston Celtics -7.5 (-109)
