Portland Trail Blazers vs Miami Heat Spread and Prediction

Two teams with identical records but from different conferences and on opposite trajectories in the past few games are clashing today, when the Miami Heat (13-13), looking to extend their winning streak, are hosting the struggling Portland Trail Blazers (13-13), who want to end a losing streak of their own.

Date/Time:  12-13-2017, 19:30 EDT

Spread: Miami Heat -3

Total: +201.5

Heat have a 13-13 record (10-14-2 against the spread) so far this season and currently sit in the 10th place of the East. They have back-to-back wins and in their last game they won on the road against Memphis with a 107-82 score, beating the odds. They are led in scoring by Goran Dragic with 17.3 ppg, adding a team high 4.4 assists per game. He is followed by Hassan Whiteside with 14.9 ppg and a team high 12.7 rebounds per game, while Dion Waters adds 14.6 ppg.

Blazers have a 13-13 record (10-13-3 against the spread) so far this season and currently sit on the 6th place of the West. They have five consecutive losses and in their last game they lost on the road against Golden State with a 104-111 score, beating the odds. They are led in scoring by Damian Lillard with 26.6 ppg, adding 5.1 rebounds and a team high 6.2 assists per game. He is followed by CJ McCollum with 21 ppg, while Jusuf Nurkic adds 15.1 ppg and a team high 7.8 rebounds per game but he is out with an injury.

Portland won both meetings against Miami last season (by 7 points at home and by 11 points on the road). Heat are 5-6 at home, while Blazers are 6-5 on the road. Blazers are better both offensively, scoring 103.3 ppg to Heat’s 100.5 and defensively, allowing 101.6 ppg to Heat’s 102.8. Heat have a better field goal percentage, shooting with 45.3% to Blazers’ 44.1%, while Blazers have a better 3-point percentage, shooting with 37.4% to Heat’s 36.9%. Blazers are better in rebounding, grabbing 46 to Heat’s 41.3 and in turnovers committed (15 to 15.8), while Heat are better in assists made (21 to 18.1). Blazers are currently on a free fall and Vegas odds give Heat a -3 spread which they are expected to beat today at home.
