Atlanta Hawks vs Milwaukee Bucks Picks and Predictions

The Atlanta Hawks have won seven of their last eight games, but find themselves as a pretty significant home underdog to the visiting Milwaukee Bucks tonight. Milwaukee is a -6.5 road favorite in tonight’s Eastern Conference contest, with the total sitting at 228.5 points. The Gold Sheet offers their NBA betting preview for Thursday night’s TNT showdown between the Bucks and Hawks.

Atlanta has won seven of its last eight games, despite the fact that star G Trae Young has missed three of the last seven and is nursing a calf injury (iffy for this game). John Collins has also been down with a sprained ankle. Hawk swingman Bogdan Bogdanovic has picked up some of the slack by averaging 22 points per game and shooting 53% from beyond the arc while chipping in five rebounds and four assists per game. Clint Capela has scored 20 points per game on 67% shooting while grabbing 14.7 rebounds in the team’s 7-1 run.

Milwaukee leader Giannis Antetokounmpo missed his sixth-straight game with a sore knee last night against Minnesota, so he has to be considered doubtful again for this one. Bobby Portis has been maxing out his extra minutes, scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds per game while shooting 49% since the “Greek Freak” has been sidelined. The Bucks have won 11 of the last 12 meetings with the Hawks, but Atlanta has covered the spread in seven of those games. Milwaukee is coming off a 130-105 breeze of a victory at Minnesota yesterday afternoon, with Khris Middleton scoring 27 points, grabbing eight rebounds and dishing seven assists as the Bucks out-shot the T-wolves 47% to 37% and hit 19-of-40 treys (47.5%). Young and Capela both sat out first meeting this season (129-115 Milwaukee win) with injuries, so if Young plays and Giannis sits, we would recommend playing the Hawks.
