Hawks vs Knicks Betting Preview
The Gold Sheet offers their NBA betting preview for Friday night’s Eastern Conference playoff showdown between the Atlanta Hawks and New York Knicks. Madison Square Garden was rocking for Games 1 and 2 in New York. Will the Knicks be able to carry that same energy on the road this weekend?

If you’re walking around Manhattan (as more people are doing these days) and see a 6’7 guy with a smirk on his face, it’s probably Mayor Bill de Blasio, no doubt feeling vindicated after admonishing Hawks G Trae Young for his noted gamesmanship following ATL’s Game 1 win. Young didn’t play on Wednesday as if he paid much attention to de Blasio, scoring another 30 points, but he wasn’t a factor in the late going as in Sunday’s series opener as the Hawks surrendered a 13-point halftime lead, scoring just 35 points in the 2nd half.
Credit Tom Thibodeau with proper adjustments, including his insertion of Derrick Rose (en route to a team-high 26 points) in the starting lineup for the second half, and Julius Randle awakening from a slumber that spanned the first three halves of this series when missing 23 of 29 shots, finally locating a groove after intermission in Game 2 and scoring 13 points in the final 24 minutes as NY battled back for a 101-92 win to level matters at one game apiece.
Trae Young is the first player in Hawks history to reach 30-or-more points in his first two career playoff games. ❄️

Action now moves to State Farm Arena, but we suspect Thibodeau has a few more concerns than Hawks counterpart Nate McMillan, as Tibs has had to rely on two guys off the bench (Rose and Alec Burks) as his top scorers in this series. A more-consistent 48-minute effort might be required on the road from Randle, who has not yet proven the consistent thorn in the side of Atlanta’s defense as in the regular season when big Julius twice scored 40+ points, but at a mere 15 ppg in this series to date. Meanwhile, the disappearing act of key Hawks F John Collins (18 ppg) in Game 2 had much to do with foul trouble, which limited him to just 15 minutes and a highly-uncharacteristic donut in the scoring column. (Expect much more from Collins tonight.) Remember, too, that ATL has been very formidable at home, winning outright 11 in a row, part of McMillan’s 28-12 SU mark since taking the helm for the Hawks on March 1. “Totals” alert’’—mostly “unders” both ways lately (five straight for Atlanta, 6 of 7 for NY, including the first two in this series). Play Hawks and Knicks-Hawks “Under”
