The Los Angeles Battle takes place in the second game of the opening day of the 2020-21 NBA, when the defending champions Lakers are hosting the Clippers. The hosts proved themselves to be the favorite for the title last season but managed to improve their roster during the postseason with valuable additions such as Dennis Schroder, Montrezl Harrell and Marc Gasol. On the other hand, the guests failed to go deep into the playoffs once again and are hoping for a fresh start under the new coach Tyron Lue.

In their four meetings last season, both teams were tied 2-2 wins.
Lakers were 25-10 at home, while Clippers were 22-14 on the road.
Clippers were better offensively (116.3 to 113.4), while Lakers were better defensively (107.6 to 109.9).
Lakers had the best field goal percentage in the NBA (48% to 46.6%), while Clippers had a better 3-point percentage (37.1% to 34.9%).
Clippers were better third-best in rebounding (47.7 to 45.7) and committed fewer turnovers (14 to 14.7), while the Lakers were better in assists made (25.4 to 23.7).
Bookmakers give the Lakers a -2 spread and expect them to beat the odds. They will want to start the new season strong and they are fully capable of that, especially with the new additions in their roster.
Clippers vs Lakers Prediction: Los Angeles Lakers -2 (-111)
