Two squads sitting on opposite sides of the Eastern Conference table are clashing today, when the last Cleveland Cavaliers (11-42), looking to bounce back after their latest defeat, are hosting the 4th Boston Celtics (34-19), who on the other hand have lost only once in their last 10 games.
Date/Time: 02-05-2019, 19:00 EDT
Spread: Cleveland Cavaliers +12.5
Cleveland Cavaliers have a 11-42 record (23-29-1 against the spread) so far this season and are currently tied with the Knicks in the last place of the East. In their last game they saw a two-game winning streak getting snapped by losing at home against the Mavericks with a 98-111 score, not beating the odds. They are led in scoring by Kevin Love with 19 ppg, adding 3.5 dimes and a team high 13.5 boards per game but he is out with an injury. He is followed by Jordan Clarkson with 16.8 ppg and 3.3 boards off the bench, while Collin Sexton adds 14.3 ppg.
Boston Celtics have a 34-19 record (28-25 against the spread) so far this season and are currently tied with the Pacers in the 4th place of the East. They have won nine of their last ten matches and in their last game they won at home against the Thunder with a 134-129 score, beating the odds. They are led in scoring by Kyrie Irving with 23.8 ppg, adding 4.9 boards and a team high 7 dimes per game. He is followed by Jayson Tatum with 16.1 ppg and 6.2 boards per game.
Celtics have won both previous meetings against the Cavaliers earlier this season, both at home and by an average of 26.5 points. Cavaliers have a 6-20 home record, while the Celtics are 12-13 on the road. Celtics are better both offensively, scoring 112.8 ppg to Cavs’ 102.5 ppg and defensively, allowing 105.9 ppg to Cavs’ 113.3 ppg. They also have better percentages both in field goals (46.4% to 44.3%) and in 3-pointers (37% to 35.4%). Celtics are better in boards grabbed (45.1 to 42.2) and in dimes made (26.2 to 20.3), while both teams are almost equal in turnovers committed (12.7 to 12.9). Celtics are the absolute favorite and Vegas odds give them a -12.5 spread and expect them to beat the odds for an easy road victory.
Boston Celtics vs Cleveland Cavaliers Prediction: Boston Celtics -12.5 (-109)
