Two of the five best teams currently in the West are clashing in this high caliber duel, when the fourth Denver Nuggets (31-14), are hosting the fifth Houston Rockets (28-16), with both teams coming off wins in their previous games and looking to continue on the winning ways.

Date/Time: 01-26-2020, 15:30 EDT

Spread: Denver Nuggets +1

Total: +227

Denver Nuggets have a 31-14 record (19-22-4 against the spread) and are sitting in the 4th place of the West. They have won two of their last three matches and in their last game they won on the road against the Pelicans with a 113-106 score, beating the odds. They are led in scoring by Nikola Jokic with 19.6 ppg, adding team highs both in rebounding with 10 and in assists made with 6.4 per game. He is followed by Jamal Murray with 17.6 ppg, 4.1 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game but he is out with an injury.

Houston Rockets have a 28-16 record (21-23 against the spread) and are tied with the Mavericks in the 5th place of the West. They have back-to-back wins and in their last game they won on the road against the Timberwolves with a 131-124 score, beating the odds. They are led in scoring by James Harden with a league-best of 36.1 ppg, adding 6.2 rebounds and 7.3 assists per game. He is followed by Russell Westbrook with 25.8 ppg, 8.1 rebounds and a team high 7.4 assists per game.

In their three previous meetings earlier this season the Rockets lead the Nuggets 2-1 wins with each team having won at home (Nuggets won the previous home game by 10 points). Nuggets are 17-6 at home, while the Rockets are 13-9 on the road. Rockets are better offensively, scoring 118.7 ppg to Nuggets’ 109.3, while Nuggets are better defensively, allowing 106 ppg to Rockets’ 114.2. Nuggets have a better field goal percentage (46.1% to 45.4%), while both teams have a similar 3-point percentage (34.6% to 34.5%). Rockets are better in rebounding (47.1 to 45.2), while Nuggets are better both in assists made (26.2 to 21.7) and in turnovers committed (13.4 to 15). Bookmakers give the Spurs a -1 spread but don’t expect them to beat the odds and pick the hosts in this one.
