In this battle between two teams sitting on opposite sides of their respective conferences, the New Orleans Pelicans (23-30), who have won only once in their last 6 games, are hosting the Indiana Pacers (33-19), who have lost their star player for the season and are looking to turn their latest victory into a streak.

Date/Time: 02-04-2019, 20:00 EDT

Spread: New Orleans Pelicans +1.5

Total: +217.5

New Orleans Pelicans have a 23-30 record (25-27-1 against the spread) so far this season and currently sit in the third to last place of the West. They have lost five of their last six matches and in their last game they lost on the road against the Spurs with a 108-113 score, beating the odds. They are led in scoring by Anthony Davis with 29.3 ppg, adding 4.4 dimes and a team high 13.3 boards per game but he is out with an injury and has demanded a trade. He is followed by Jrue Holiday with 21 ppg, 4.9 boards and a team high 8 dimes per game.

Indiana Pacers have a 33-19 record (26-26 against the spread) so far this season and are currently tied with the Celtics in the fourth place of the East. In their last game they snapped a four-game losing streak by winning on the road against the Heat with a 95-88 score, beating the odds. They are led in scoring by Victor Oladipo with 18.8 ppg, adding 5.6 boards and 5.2 dimes per game but he will miss the rest of the season with an injury. He is followed by Bojan Bogdanovic with 16.3 ppg and 4.1 boards per game.

Pelicans won both meetings against the Pacers last season (at home by 4 points and on the road by 5). Pelicans have a 15-9 home record, while the Pacers are 15-12 on the road. Pelicans are better offensively, scoring 116.2 ppg to Pacers’ 107.9, while Pacers are better defensively, allowing 103.6 ppg to Pelicans’ 114.9. Pelicans have a better field goal percentage (48% to 47.5%), while Pacers have a better 3-point percentage (36.8% to 35.2%). Pelicans are better both in boards grabbed (46.8 to 43.5) and in dimes made (26.8 to 25.9) and both teams are almost equal in turnovers committed (13.7 to 14). Both teams are missing their star players and Vegas odds give the Pacers a -1.5 spread but don’t expect them to beat the odds as the Pelicans will utilize the home court advantage and get away with the win.

Indiana Pacers vs New Orleans Pelicans Prediction: New Orleans Pelicans +1.5 (-110)
