In this duel between two teams sitting outside the playoff places of the West, the Minnesota Timberwolves (19-43), looking to bounce back after their latest defeat, are hosting the New Orleans Pelicans (27-36), who on the other hand want to turn their latest victory into a streak.
Date/Time: 03-08-2020, 15:30 EDT
Spread: Minnesota Timberwolves +6
Minnesota Timberwolves have a 19-43 record (22-38-2 against the spread) and are sitting in the second to last place of the West. In their last game they saw a two-game winning streak getting snapped by losing at home against the Magic with a 118-132 score, not beating the odds. Karl-Anthony Towns leads the team both in scoring with 26.5 ppg and in rebounding with 10.8 per game but he is out with an injury. D’Angelo Russell follows with 23.1 ppg, 3.8 rebounds and a team high 6.4 assists per game.

New Orleans Pelicans have a 27-36 record (32-29-2 against the spread) and are sitting in the 11th place of the West. In their last game they snapped a three-game losing streak by winning at home against the Heat with a 110-104 score, beating the odds. Brandon Ingram leads the team in scoring with 24.4 ppg, adding 6.1 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game. Zion Williamson follows with 23.6 ppg and 6.8 rebounds per game.
In their two previous meetings earlier this season each team won once on the road. Wolves won by 5 points and Pelicans by 8. Wolves are 8-23 home, while the Pelicans are 14-17 on the road. Pelicans are better offensively, scoring 116.1 ppg to Wolves’ 113.4, while both teams are very close defensively, allowing 117.2 and 117.5 ppg. Pelicans have better percentages both in field goals (46.2% to 44.1%) and in 3-pointers (37.3% to 33.6%). They are also better both in rebounding (46.9 to 44.9) and in assists made (27 to 23.9), while Wolves are better in turnovers committed (15.2 to 16.1). Bookmakers give the Pelicans a -6 spread and expect them to beat the odds against one of the weakest teams currently in the league.
