The two best teams of the Western Conference are clashing in this high caliber duel, when the first and defending champions Golden State Warriors (44-20), who have been struggling lately having won only once in their last 4 games, are hosting the second Denver Nuggets (43-21), who on the other hand are looking to turn their latest victory into a streak.
Date/Time: 03-08-2019, 22:00 EDT
Spread: Golden State Warriors -6
Golden State Warriors have a 44-20 record (25-38-1 against the spread) so far this season and currently sit in the first place of the West. They have lost three of their last four matches and in their last game they lost at home against the Celtics with a 95-128 score, not beating the odds. They are led in scoring by Stephen Curry with 28.3 ppg, adding 5.2 boards and 5.2 dimes per game. He is followed by Kevin Durant with 27.5 ppg, 5.7 dimes and 6.8 boards per game.
Denver Nuggets have a 43-21 record (35-29 against the spread) so far this season and currently sit in the second place of the West. In their last game they snapped a three-game losing streak by winning on the road against the Clippers with a 115-99 score, beating the odds. They are led in scoring by by Nikola Jokic with 20.5 ppg, adding team highs both in dimes made with 7.7 and in boards grabbed with 10.8 per game. He is followed by Jamal Murray with 18.3 ppg, 4.3 boards and 5 dimes per game.
In their two previous meetings earlier this season each team won once (Warriors on the road by 31 points and Nuggets at home by two). Warriors have a 23-9 home record, while the Nuggets are 16-15 on the road. Warriors are better offensively, scoring 118.2 ppg to Nuggets’ 112.1 ppg, while Nuggets are better defensively, allowing 107 ppg to Warriors’ 112.4. Warriors have better percentages both in field goals (48.8% to 46.8%) and in 3-pointers (37.8% to 35.5%). Nuggets on the other hand are better both in boards grabbed (46.9 to 46.2) and in turnovers committed (13 to 13.6), while Warriors are better in dimes made (29 to 27.7). Warriors are the favorite at home but Vegas odds give them a -6 spread and don’t expect them to beat the odds as the Nuggets will definitely force a closer game than that.
Denver Nuggets vs Golden State Warriors Prediction: Denver Nuggets +6 (-106)
