In this all-Western battle between two squads sitting in and out of the playoff places of the conference, the Houston Rockets (26-13), looking to bounce back after their latest defeat, are hosting the Portland Trail Blazers (17-24), who on the other hand want to turn their latest victory into a streak.
Date/Time: 01-15-2020, 21:30 EDT
Spread: Houston Rockets -8
Houston Rockets have a 26-13 record (19-20 against the spread) and are sitting in the 5th place of the West. They have lost two of their last three matches and in their last game they lost on the road against the Grizzlies with a 110-121 score, not beating the odds. They are led in scoring by James Harden with 37.8 ppg, adding 6.2 rebounds and a team high 7.5 assists per game. He is followed by Russell Westbrook with 24.6 ppg, 7 assists and 7.7 rebounds per game.
Portland Trail Blazers have a 17-24 record (15-24-2 against the spread) and are sitting in the 10th place of the West. In their last game they snapped a two-game losing streak by winning at home against the Hornets with a 115-112 score, not beating the odds. They are led in scoring by Damian Lillard with 26.8 ppg, adding 4.1 rebounds and a team high 7.6 assists per game. He is followed by CJ McCollum with 21.9 ppg, 4.2 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game.
In their previous meeting earlier this season the Rockets won at home with a 132-108 score. Rockets are 14-4 at home, while the Blazers are 8-14 on the road. Rockets are better offensively, scoring 119 ppg to Blazers’ 111.5, while both teams are very close defensively, allowing 113.8 and 113.9 ppg. Rockets have a better field goal percentage (45.4% to 45%), while Blazers have a better 3-point percentage (36% to 34.9%). Rockets are better both in rebounding (47.3 to 45.9) and in assists made (21.5 to 19.7), while Blazers are better in turnovers committed (13.1 to 15.1). Bookmakers give the Rockets a -8 spread and expect them to beat the odds against a struggling this season Blazers team.
