Two Eastern Conference teams fighting to remain in the thick of the postseason bracket square off tonight at Barclays Center. Detroit is in Brooklyn for a 7:30 p.m. ET Monday night affair. The Pistons have surpassed Brooklyn in the East playoff standings off an impressive 131-108 rout of the Chicago Bulls on Sunday. was the fifth straight victory for the Pistons and their 12th in the last 14 games. Brooklyn has done their best to keep pace with Detroit winning three straight.
The Piston’s have done a 180 in terms of scheme and style. This coming primarily on the offensive end of the floor. The recent scoring surge has found the second rotation carrying a large load of the scoring weight. Reserve Langston Galloway enters tonight event in New York with 12 consecutive made 3-pointers.
All Star bigs Blake Griffin and Andre Drummond have dominated the paint as of late. The two have carried the team into the sixth place spot in the Eastern postseaso9n standings.
Guards D’Angelo Russell and Spencer Dinwiddie lead the team in scoring. Pit the defensive minded Pistons’ backcourt against a guard-heavy Eastern Conference club and it has resulted in advantage Detroit.
Brooklyn’s three-game winning streak has come via a trio of non-playoff qualifiers, Atlanta, Cleveland and Dallas, respectively. The team’s Saturday night victory in Atlanta was fortuitous, at best. The Nets shot a porous 38.4 percent from the field, a mere 61 percent at the charity stripe that included 54 attempts from the line.
The Nets have a pair of players questionable for tonight’s Big Apple contest. Point guard Shabazz Napier and small forward Treveon Graham are both question marks. Reserve guard Allen Crabbe has not been a contributor in the second rotation as of late connecting on just 4-of-22 from 3-point shots over his last four games.
