Two teams sitting on opposite sides of their respective conference are clashing tonight, when the New Orleans Pelicans (27-34), looking to turn their latest victory into a streak, are hosting the Philadelphia 76ers (38-22), who on the other hand want to bounce back after their latest defeat.
Date/Time: 02-25-2019, 20:00 EDT
Spread: New Orleans Pelicans -1.5
New Orleans Pelicans have a 27-34 record (29-31-1 against the spread) so far this season and currently sit in the third to last place of the West. They have won two of their last three matches and in their last game they won at home against the Lakers with a 128-115 score, beating the odds. They are led in scoring by Anthony Davis with 27.8 ppg, adding 4.2 dimes and a team high 12.8 boards per game. He is followed by Jrue Holiday with 21 ppg, 5.1 boards and a team high 7.9 dimes per game.
Philadelphia 76ers have a 38-22 record (28-32 against the spread) so far this season and currently sit in the 4th place of the East. In their last game they saw a two-game winning streak getting snapped by losing at home against the Blazers with a 115-130 score, not beating the odds. They are led in scoring by Joel Embiid with 27.3 ppg, adding a team high 13.5 boards per game but he is out with an injury. He is followed by Tobias Harrris with 19 ppg and 7.8 boards per game, while Jimmy Butler adds 18.7 ppg and 5 boards.
In their previous meeting earlier this season the Sixers won at home with a 121-120 score. Pelicans have a 18-11 home record, while the Sixers are 14-14 on the road. Both teams score exactly 115.7 ppg, while Sixers are better defensively, allowing 112.3 to Pelicans’ 115. Both teams have almost identical field goal percentage (47.8% to 47.5%), while both Sixers have a better 3-point percentage (36% to 34.8%). Both teams are almost equal in boards grabbed (47 to 46.8), while Sixers are better in dimes made (27.3 to 26.8) and Pelicans are better in turnovers committed (14 to 15). Sixers have been mediocre of the road and will probably missing Embiid in this one. Vegas odds give the Pelicans a -1.5 spread and expect them to beat the odds for the home victory.
Philadelphia 76ers vs New Orleans Pelicans Prediction: New Orleans Pelicans -1.5 (-111)
