NBA Preview and Free Pick: Toronto Raptors vs. Philadelphia 76ers
Two of the top teams in the Eastern Conference square off in tonight’s featured NBA matchup. The
Toronto Raptors head to Philadelphia for a game with the 76ers, a meeting of the current second and
fourth seeds in the conference.
Date/Time/TV: Tues. Feb.5, 8:00 PM EST, TNT
Spread: Philadelphia 76ers -4.5 (-110)
The Raptors were home on Sunday versus the Los Angeles Clippers and walked away with a 121-
103 victory. The team has been struggling more than normal as of late while dropping three of their
last five. For the season, Toronto is 38-16 (24-30 ATS) and in second place in the east, two games
behind the conference leading Milwaukee Bucks.
The 76ers were last in action on Saturday, dropping a 115-108 road game to the Sacramento Kings.
That loss snapped a two-game winning streak. Philadelphia is 34-19 (25-28 ATS) on the year and in
a logjam for third in the east, 5.5 games behind the Bucks.
Over the last 10, Toronto is 6-4 (4-6 ATS), with three of the losses coming on the road. In away
games to date, the team is 16-11 (11-16 ATS). Toronto is 30-24 on totals for the season, with the
Under coming in for three of the last five.
It looks like the team may be without Kyle Lowry tonight, as he’s doubtful with a back injury. Lowry
is averaging 14.1 ppg and 9.2 dimes. Kawhi Leonard leads the way with 27.4 ppg and 7.9 boards,
while Serge Ibaka and Pascal Siakam are contributing 16.1 and 15.4 ppg respectively.
Philadelphia is 7-3 (5-5 ATS) over the last 10, and they have picked up wins in four of their last six.
The home court has been friendly this season, as the 76ers have a mark of 21-5 (14-12 ATS). On
totals, the team is 29-24, but the Under has been the correct call for the last three in a row.
Joel Embiid leads the way with averages of 27.2 ppg and 13.5 rpg. Jimmy Butler is chipping in with
18.9 ppg, while JJ Redick contributes 18.3 ppg. Ben Simmons is doing a bit of everything with 16.9
ppg, 9.4 boards, and 8.1 dimes.
Raptors vs. 76ers Prediction
Philadelphia has the statistical edge on offense, while we can say the same for Toronto on defense.
This will be the third meeting of the season for these two clubs. The Raptors are 2-1 so far, picking
up a pair of victories on their home court.
The 76ers picked up a big 25-point home victory the last time these squads tipped off in December.
We’re not expecting as big of a margin of victory this evening, but we do like the hosts to win and
cover in what should be an entertaining contest.
Toronto Raptors vs. Philadelphia 76ers Pick: Philadelphia 76ers -4.5 (-110)
