In this high-caliber Western battle between two of the four best teams of the conference, the fourth Portland Trail Blazers (33-23), looking to end their current small losing streak, are hosting the defending champions and first Golden State Warriors (41-15), who on the other hand have lost only once in their last seventeen games.
Date/Time: 02-13-2019, 22:30 EDT
Spread: Portland Trail Blazers +4.5
Portland Trail Blazers have a 33-23 record (30-26 against the spread) so far this season and are currently tied with the Rockets in the fourth place of the West. They have lost three of their last four matches and in their last game they lost on the road against the Thunder with a 111-120 score, not beating the odds. They are led in scoring by Damian Lillard with 26.3 ppg, adding 4.5 boards and a team high 6.3 dimes per game. He is followed by CJ McCollum with 21.1 ppg and 4 boards per game.
Golden State Warriors have a 41-15 record (24-31-1 against the spread) so far this season and currently sit in the first place of the West. They have won 16 of their last 17 matches and in their last game they won at home against the Jazz with a 115-108 score, not beating the odds. They are led in scoring by Stephen Curry with 28.5 ppg, adding 5.1 boards and 5.3 dimes per game. He is followed by Kevin Durant with 27.5 ppg, 6 dimes and 7 boards per game.
In their three previous meetings earlier this season the Warriors lead the Blazers 2-1 wins, having won the only road game by 10 points. Blazers have a 23-8 home record, while the Warriors are 19-8 on the road. Warriors are better offensively, scoring 119 ppg to Blazers’ 113 ppg, while Blazers are better defensively, allowing 110.4 ppg to Warriors’ 111.4. Warriors have better percentages both in field goals (49.3% to 46.4%) and in 3-pointers (38.5% to 36.2%). They are also better in dimes made (29.5 to 22.8), while Blazers are better in boards grabbed (47.6 to 46.4) and both teams commit almost the same number of turnovers per game (13.6 to 13.7). Warriors have been red-hot lately and Vegas odds give them a -4.5 spread and expect them to beat the odds for the road win.
Golden State Warriors vs Portland Trail Blazers Prediction: Golden State Warriors -4.5 (-109)
