New Orleans Pelicans vs Detroit Pistons

Two teams fighting for the 8th and final playoff spot of their respective conference are clashing today, when the Detroit Pistons (27-28), looking to bounce back after a surprising road loss, are hosting the New Orleans Pelicans (29-26), who ended a losing streak and want to continue on the winning ways.  New Orleans Pelicans vs Detroit Pistons Spread and Prediction.

Date/Time:  02-12-2018, 19:00 EDT

Spread: Detroit Pistons -2.5

Total: +220

Pistons have a 27-28 record (26-27-2 against the spread) so far this season and currently sit on the 9th place of the East. They have back-to-back losses and in their last game they lost on the road against the Hawks with a 115-118 score, not beating the odds. They are led in scoring by Blake Griffin with 21.3 ppg, adding 7.7 rebounds and a team high 6.2 assists per game. He is followed by Andre Drummond with 15.2 ppg, adding team highs in rebounding with 15.6 per game, in steals with 1.6 per game and in blocked shots with 1.5 per game.

Pelicans have a 29-26 record (27-27-1 against the spread) so far this season and currently sit on the 8th place of the West. In their last game they snapped a three-game losing streak by winning on the road against the Nets in overtime with a 138-128 score, beating the odds. They are led in scoring by Anthony Davis with 26.9 ppg, adding 10.7 rebounds per game. He is followed by DeMarcus Cousins with 25.2 ppg, 5.2 assists and a team high 12.9 rebounds per game but he will miss the rest of the season.

In their previous meeting earlier this season, Pelicans won at home with a 112-109 score. Pistons are 18-11 at home so far this season, while Pelicans are 15-14 on the road.  New Orleans is  better offensively, scoring 110.7 ppg to Pistons’ 103.4, while Pistons are better defensively, allowing 103.3 ppg to Pelicans’ third-worse of 111.2. Pelicans have a better field goal percentage, shooting with a second-best 48.25% to Pistons’ 45.23%, while Pistons have a better 3-point percentage, shooting with 37.68% to Pelicans’ 36.31%. The Big Easy squad are better in rebounding (43.3 to 42.6) and they are second-best in assists made, with 26.2 to Pistons’ 22.9. Pelicans have not been the same after losing Cousins for the season and Vegas odds give Pistons a -2.5 spread which they are expected to beat for the home victory.
