Vegas SuperBook NFL Games of the Year
Oakland Raiders went from being a near field goal home underdog in the Week 10 Thursday Night Football primetime event versus Phil Rivers and the LA Chargers to a one-point home favorite. The Los Angeles based National Football League franchises are suffering a market value free fall. Evidence of this comes via the Vegas SuperBook NFL Games of the Year odds updates.
The LA Rams host the Chicago Bears on Sunday, November 17, a Week 11 NFC event. Quarterback Jared Goff and the offense have been less than the last three weekends. A perfect 3-0 start in 2019 is now a 3-3 mark. To be completely transparent the current concerns for the Rams, their supporters and those that have invested in Los Angeles futures, Games of the Year and the Vegas SuperBook, have seen the number move against them over the last two Westgate updates. Goff and company are a current minus-3 versus the Bears in the Week 11 home game.
Gurley absent in loss to 49ers
The Rams were minus-4.5 points in last week’s SuperBook update. From the outside looking in the view from Vegas to LA is cloudy. All-Pro and uber-important Todd Gurley continues to miss practice and snaps in games. Just his presence, touching the ball or not, forced defensive coordinators to scheme disguised coverage with the aim of having an eighth or ninth man available in the box to assist in run support. Without Gurley dressing last Sunday the 49ers showed little to no respect for the Rams offensive line and the threat of coach Sean McVay calling for a run.
The lack of offensive success has played a role in the Rams defensive effectiveness. The difference in time of possession this year compared to the last two seasons is significant. The Rams pushed 40 plus points to the scoreboard the last two weeks and the game results still resulted in losses.
Los Angeles plans to place cornerback Aqib Talib on injured reserve because of his rib injury. Furthermore, the offensive line is a MASH unit. Left guard Joe Noteboom will miss the rest of the 2019 season after tearing his ACL and MCL.
The largest aggregate move in relation to Game of the Year point-spreads has come for the pair of Los Angeles franchises. The information and future metrics that are dictated by the current game handicaps find both teams losing market support. The Rivers led Chargers can’t run the football between the tackles. The offensive line has been inept in pass protection. And defensive coordinator Gus Bradley has no answer, no success in an attempt to adjust the units scheme in the absence of Melvin Ingram.
The update on the once highly anticipated Week 11 meet in Mexico City between the Chargers and the Kansas City Chiefs finds the Bolts stock in a free fall. This despite quarterback Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs losing two straight at Arrowhead.
