NFL Week 6 Look-Ahead Lines
The Kansas City Chiefs were not a part of the 2018-19 National Football League finale but the momentum from 2018-19 has carried into the 2019-20 campaign. The first two weeks of NFL 2019 found continued ooh’s and aah’s around Chiefs’ quarterback and league MVP Patrick Mahomes. The third-year signal-caller threw for 626 first-half yards, an NFL record for most first-half passing yards in the first two weeks of a season. And entering a big Week 3 contest against the Baltimore Ravens and Lamar Jackson Mahomes has registered 821 total passing yards. Early NFL Week 6 Look-Ahead Lines.
The 821 yards for Pat Jr. is the fifth most across the first two weeks in NHL history. To state that Mahomes and the Chiefs receiving corps met their match in Week 4 might be offering the Detroit Lions secondary too much credit. But give credit where credit is due. The Motor City squad under the Ford Field roof did something that no other defense had been able to do for the last 14 games. That “something” was containing Mahomes. Furthermore keeping the MVP from throwing at least two touchdown passes in a game.
Mahomes Multi-TD Run Halted
Not only did the Lions prevent homes from adding to his two TD passes in consecutive games record they held him to zero TD passes, period. No matter how well the Chiefs defense play it will be difficult for the unit to outshine the team’s offense under the direction of head coach and offensive innovator Andy Reid.
Kansas City made a number of defensive changes in the offseason. The outside pass rush of Dee Ford and Justin Houston is no longer considered the key to the success of the stop-unit. Both All-Pro’s are no longer a part of the Kansas City roster.
It isn’t unreasonable to put the Chiefs’ postseason honus on how first-year defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo and his players perform… The offense hasn’t lost a step nor production despite the injury to All-Pro Treek Hill. After ranking 24th in points allowed in 2018, the Chiefs defense currently ranks nineteenth overall in points surrendered in 2019. The defense is allowing 23.5 points per game through four 2019 events.
QB Sacks, Hits and Pressures Key
Defensive tackle Chris Jones, who has moved inside during his contract year has combined with rush end Emmanuela Ogbah for 4.5 sacks. Ogbah, Jones and seven other KC defenders have registered at least a half a sack. The depth and explosiveness of the Mahomes led offense and the defense’s ability to pressure opposing quarterbacks makes the Chiefs favorites to earn the AFC sideline on Super Sunday 2020.
The NFL Week 6 look-ahead lines and odds for Week 6 find the Houston Texans visiting Kansas City, Mo. for a Sunday romp on the real turf in Arrowhead Stadium.
The key to the Chiefs winning in this Week 6 contest against the Texans is how Mahomes and the KC offense function against veteran J.J. Watts and the Houston defense. The variable most significant in Kansas City covering the current minus-8.5 point-spread will be the work of Ogbah, Jones and the KC front seven making Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson throw his pass attempts outside of the pocket while running for the sake of his health.
