On Sunday, December 3, 2017, the team with the best record in the NFL, the 10-1 Philadelphia Eagles, travel to CenturyLink Field to take on the 7-4 Seattle Seahawks, currently second in the NFC West. This is a huge game for both teams, as Philadelphia is not only looking to keep alive their nine-game winning streak, but also looking to show that they deserve to be considered the best team in the league against top-flight talent. Seattle is trailing the Los Angeles Rams, and simply cannot afford a loss in this contest.
Philadelphia is 9-2 against the spread this season, including going 5-0 against the spread in their last five contests. This season, the Eagles are 5-1 against the spread in their six road games and are 4-1 overall on the road. In the last six contests between these two teams, Philadelphia is 1-5 against the spread and they have only won one of the last six games between these two teams. Philadelphia has gone over in 13 of their last 17 games, but the total has gone under in four of the last six games between these two teams in Seattle.
Seattle is 4-6-1 against the spread this season, including going 1-3-1 against the spread in their last five games. The Seahawks have struggled at home against the spread, going 1-4 this season. They have gone under in five of their last seven games. At home over their last 14 games, Seattle is 11-3.

There is a lot to like about the Philadelphia Eagles this season that goes beyond their 10-1 record. They are first in the league in points scored, thanks to their sophomore quarterback, Carson Wentz, who is quickly making himself into the likely MVP winner this season.
Wentz has thrown for 2657 yards, and has 28 touchdowns with only five interceptions. The Philadelphia QB has completed 60.2 percent of his passes this season.
What has made the season for Wentz so impressive is that he doesn’t have receivers whose names stand out greatly. Tight end Zach Ertz leads the team in receiving yards and catches with 639 yards on 55 receptions. Ertz is an All-Pro and may be the best tight end in the league. Alshon Jeffery is second on the team in receptions with 43 for 619 yards, and he and Ertz our tied for the team lead and touchdown receptions with seven each.
The Eagles defense has performed quite well this season, recording 31 sacks in their 11 games. They are led by Brandon Graham, who has 7.0, and Malcolm Jenkins leads the team in tackles with 53. The spot where Philadelphia has really excelled is in the way that they have covered opposing receivers, recording 16 interceptions the season, led by Rodney McLeod, Jalen Mills, and Patrick Robinson who each have three picks this year.
Seattle is looking to get a little consistency, as they have split their last four contests, but they have won six of their last eight. It has been the impressive play of quarterback Russell Wilson that has gotten the Seahawks back in the playoff hunt. Wilson has thrown for 3029 yards this season and has 23 touchdowns versus eight interceptions. Russell has also run for 401 yards and scored three touchdowns.
The unfortunate part for Seattle is that he is by far the team leader in yardage rushing this season. In fact, Wilson has more yards rushing than the top two running backs on the team combined (401 to 384). It’s no wonder that this team is only going as far as their quarterback can take them.
The defense has not been the Legion of Boom that NFL fans have become accustomed to, and with cornerback Richard Sherman out for the year this team is really in a situation where they must score to win games. The Seahawks have 29 sacks this season, led by Michael Bennett who has 7.5.
Eagles vs. Seahawks Betting Lines
It is hard to believe that Seattle is the underdog at home, but Philadelphia has played so well this season and with Sherman out it should be a great day for Carson Wentz. Philadelphia is the best team in the NFL right now, firing on all cylinders on offense and defense. Expect the Eagles to win by seven, covering the spread, and expect the score in this contest to be slightly over 47.5.
My Pick: Philadelphia -5.5 (-110)
Total: Over 47.5 (-110)
