There remains nearly five months before the 2019 National Football League regular season kicks off. Furthermore there is yet another week-plus before we see Major League Baseball’s first pitch. And while championships are not won in the offseason a large number of gamers invest in such. Caesars Palace NFL and MLB Championship Futures.
All good things must eventually come to an end. The Nick Saban Alabama Crimson Tide college football dynasty has been handed off to Dabo Swinney’s Clemson Tigers. And the age of quarterback Tom Brady and the insistence of New England owner Robert Kraft spending his money in Florida bordello’s – rather than on the Patriots player personnel – likely ends the Patriots’ hierarchy.
The sexy selections and talk around the office water cooler are all about March Madness… and the Cleveland Browns. The Browns didn’t yet win the AFC North with their offseason maneuvers but they did enough to capture the attention of NFL’ers. There are a number of sports investors that are going all-in on the Browns winning the AFC North in 2019. It would be the franchise’s first division crown in 30-years if they can pull the trophy out of Baker Mayfield’s helmet.
What has happened on the Northside of Chicago? The one time lovable losers and their fan base were arguably the most enjoyable teams and fan bases in Major League Baseball to follow.
Now expectations have become ridiculously swollen for the team. The Cubs, who went 108 years between World Series titles and had never previously made the playoffs four years in a row are pathetic.
Don’t believe me? Just ask the Cubby base. Despite the Cubs being in the midst of a four-year streak of postseason play, and winning 97, 103, 92 and 95 games during that stretch, respectively, a streak that includes a World Series title, the club is being spoken to like they are dead in the water this season.
Don’t tell that to the Caesars Entertainment group. They liken the Cubs at 8-1 odds to win this October’s Fall Classic.
