Thank you, NHL! The National Hockey League is the first of the suspended leagues to agree on a proposal to conclude the 2020 season. The league and its Players’ Association have approved a 24-team playoff format, which will likely take place at a neutral site. Teams 5 through 12 in each conference will participate in a play-in round, while the top-four teams in each league will have a separate round-robin contest to determine their seeding in the first round. In the Eastern Conference, the Boston Bruins, Tampa Bay Lightning, Washington Capitals and Philadelphia Flyers would receive the free pass through the opening round. In the Western Conference, the St. Louis Blues, Colorado Avalanche, Las Vegas Golden Knights and Dallas Stars would receive the byes.
