Busters Sports will be releasing their Top-10 NHL teams each week of the 2019-20 season. They will not be the top-10 teams in terms of league standings, but what we believe are the teams that are deserving of the top spots in the NHL. Buster Sports dominated the NHL last year with a record of 166-126-9, making their clients a PROFIT OF 115.68%. Busters Sports would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah and a Happy New Year. The NHL starts their Christmas break this week so with only a few games being played we will have the next Top-10 the week of January 6th 2020.

Buster’s Top-10 NHL Teams (Dec. 23 – 29)
1) WASHINGTON CAPITALS
This is the best team in the league right now and truthfully, it does not look like anyone is close. This is what we said last week and it holds true going into this week. The only team that seems to be the Capitals kryptonite is the Columbus Blue Jackets as they lost to them again last week. However, they beat the Lightning in OT and they have Boston tonight. They will probably be in the number 1 spot when we resume our list on January 6th. They will have 6 tough games in that span so it will be interesting to see if they are still Number 1. We believe they will be.
2) ST LOUIS BLUES
The Blues had another great week as they went 3-0 on the week and now have won 5 games in a row and because of the problems of the prior teams above, they find themselves Number 2 on our list. They will continue a 3 game road trip through the XMAS break and we will keep and eye on that spot on the 27th in Winnipeg. When we resume our list, the Blues will have played 6 games like most of the teams, and if they continue to play this type of hockey they will stay on our list at Number 2.
3) COLORADO AVALANCHE
As we have wrote many times this is one of our teams we believe could be holding Lord Stanley come June. They have not played that well this past week and because of this, the Blues jump right over them. They have a tough game tonight in Vegas and have another 5 games over the XMAS break and next week. We will expect them to win 4 out of those 6 games to keep their spot. Once the New Year comes, you will see these top teams start to take over. It will be a wait and see if Colorado is one of these teams. We think that they are.
4) BOSTON BRUINS
Well at the end of the day, we still believe this team is one of the best in the NHL. However, right now they are not playing like it. They have now lost 8 out of 9 games and that seems to be unheard of for a club like the Bruins. They did lose all 3 games last week in OT or the SO. In fact, 4 out of those 8 games they have lost were lost in OT or in a SO. We have dropped the Bruins to 4th on our list and they really could have dropped maybe another couple of spots. The reason why they haven’t been dropped more is because we know come the New Year we will be talking about this club winning 8 out of 9 and fighting for the top of our list. If we are wrong, they will keep dropping.
5) NEW YORK ISLANDERS
Last week we said that the Islanders would only hold there spot if they won 2 out of 3 games during the week. Well they only won one and because of the drop of the Bruins, they will drop two spots and turn up in the 5th spot. They are still ahead of the Penguins and Hurricanes so they will stay ahead of them on our list. We have said before that we are not really sure what this club is all about, but here is what we do know. They have great goaltending they work hard and they win close games. Right now that keeps them on the list and only time will tell if they can keep up this type of hockey.
6) ARIZONA COYOTES
The Arizona Coyotes are the surprise team of the year as we have said before, we also said last week if they win 2 out of their 3 games on the week, they will keep spot number 6. Well that is exactly what they did and they hold that spot and still are tied for the lead in the Pacific Division. The Coyotes won the Taylor Hall sweepstakes this past week and that could be the move that brings them closer to the Stanley Cup. They will play 6 games before our next Top 10 list and we will be very interested to see how they make out during the holidays.
7) PITTSBURGH PENGUINS
The Penguins now have won 7 out of their last 9 games and they move up to Number 7 on our list. Pittsburgh might be one of the hottest clubs in the NHL right now that really are not getting that much attention. They were very impressive winning 2 out of 3 games on the always tough Western Canada trip. Their reward is they are home already for the holidays and do not have to play until Friday. The down side is that they will play 6 games in 9 nights in the up coming weeks and it will be interesting to see how they handle that with Sid the Kid still on the sidelines.
8) WINNIPEG JETS
The Jets won only one out of their 3 games this week and they stay in their spot only because Dallas has now dropped out of our list. The special team’s play we talked about last week is starting to catch up with them. They are still getting unbelievable goaltending from Connor Hellebuyck but eventually that will not keep them in the Top 10. They have a super tough schedule over the XMAS break and into the New Year. If they can split those 6 games we will keep them in their spot of number 8. If they struggle to win, they will find themselves off this list.
9) LAS VEGAS GOLDEN KNIGHTS
Our former Number 1 team moves up a spot after the defection of Dallas and they are slowly moving their way up the list. We have a feeling you will see them in the Top 5 of this list by the end of January. Only time will tell. They have now won 5 out of their last 7 games and they are slowly starting to look like the team that will make a run for the Cup. They have been getting some great goaltending from backup Malcolm Subban and if that keeps up, they will be really tough to beat down the stretch. Looking forward to watching a few of the tough games that they will play over the XMAS break and into the New Year, including tonight against Colorado.
10) CAROLINA HURRICANES
Carolina Hurricanes have made it back on our list and for good reason. The Hurricanes have been playing their best hockey of the year and now have won 6 out of their last 8 games. This club is really starting look like the team that went to the Eastern Conference Finals last year. Just as most clubs during this break they get 6 games jammed in to a short period of time and there will be some great scheduling spots to bet in these coming weeks. If the Hurricanes keep playing the type of hockey they have been playing, they will slowly move up our list.
