Busters Sports will be releasing their Top-10 NHL teams each week of the 2019-20 season. They will not be the top-10 teams in terms of league standings, but what we believe are the teams that are deserving of the top spots in the NHL. Buster Sports dominated the NHL last year with a record of 166-126-9, making their clients a PROFIT OF 115.68%. This year, Buster is hitting at a 60-percent clip (49-32-3) over their last 84 NHL total releases.

Buster’s Top-10 NHL Teams (March 2 – 8)
1) BOSTON BRUINS
The Bruins get our top spot this week as they have a 2-1 week but we really do not like what we see out of our former Number 1 club the Tampa bay Lightning. The Bruins lead the Eastern Conference in points and lead the NHL in points for that matter. Just believe in what we have seen the last couple of weeks that the Bruins are deserving of this spot. They have 3 games this week and these games will be a barometer on whether they keep the Number 1 spot next week. They play the always tough Florida swing with 2 games at Florida and Tampa Bay. Then they get the Lightning at home on Saturday night. If any of the clubs win both games between the Lightning and Bruins they will be in the Number 1 spot next week.
2) COLORADO AVALANCHE
The Avalanche are moving on up the list with another really impressive week. Colorado went 3-0 on the week and won all 3 games by the identical score of 3-2. With the Lightning having another rough week we have Colorado in the Number 2 spot. What we really liked about the Avalanche this week is that they went into two very tough spots and won in Carolina and Nashville. That is the type of hockey that wins you Stanley Cups and there is no doubt this team will be a contender this year. They have 4 games this week and 2-2 will keep them in this spot. Unfortunately, a 1-3 could drop them down the list depending on what the other top 5/6 clubs do.
3) TAMPA BAY LIGHTNING
“However if they lose 2 out of 3 this week they will lose their top spot.” That is what we said last week in this article about the Lightning. Well it looks like this is exactly what happened as Tampa Bay drops from Number 1 on our list all the way to Number 3 as they had another 1-2 week. We really do not like the way this club has been playing of late. When you lose to a brutal club like the Leafs at home, you cannot be Number 1 anymore. They have now lost 4 out of their last 5 games and they just don’t seem to be playing the type of hockey expected out of this club. They have 3 games this week and they play home to Boston on Tuesday and at Boston on Saturday. They sweep those two games they will move back up our list. If they go 1-2 again this week, they will continue to fall as other teams are playing some really good hockey.
4) LAS VEGAS GOLDEN KNIGHTS
The Golden Knights had a 2-1 week and have won 8 out of their last 9 games and that moves them up our list. We had said last week that we were going to give Washington and Pittsburgh another week ahead of Vegas but they did not show enough to us and thus the Golden Knights jump two spots to Number 4 on our list. Right now spots 3 to 7 on our list could be interchangeable so it makes for a great end to the NHL season. We said this last week and this is exactly what is starting to happen. Vegas ended up getting some help in the goaltending department when they picked up Robin Lehner from Chicago. This is an important move by Vegas with only 1 month left in the regular season. Points are at a premium this time of year and now they have some great insurance to help them get those points. They play 3 games this week and 2-1 keeps them in their spot on our list.
5) ST LOUIS BLUES
What can we say about the Stanley Cup Champions every time we believe that they are getting ready to fall off our list the Blues go on a winning streak. Well they have done it again winning all 3 games last week and now they are on a 7 game winning streak. We said if the Blues kept winning, they would be going up our list and thus they jump 2 spots to the Number 5 spot. It might be a little more difficult to crack the top 4 but then again we have seen the Blues do amazing things this time of year. They have 3 games this week and they are all on the road against NYR, NJ and Chicago. As long as they go 2-1 they will keep their spot on our list. Any other result and we will have to see what the other clubs did for the week.
6) WASHINGTON CAPITALS
“They have 3 games this week and only 2-1 will keep them in the 4 or 5 spot.” This is what we said about the Capitals last week, well they did go 2-1, but we dropped them to Number 6 anyway. We really just do not like what we see from this club. They need to start playing the type of hockey they did in the middle of the season, when they won 11 of 14 games. The roster has seemed to improve with the additions of D Brenden Dillon from San Jose and Ilya Kovalchuk from the Montreal, but we need to see a better Capitals club if they have any chance of hoisting Lord Stanley. They do not play again until Wednesday and that should give them some time with the new recruits to focus on making a stretch run. They play the dreaded 3 games in 4 nights this week and we will see what this club is made of. They need to go at least 2-1 or they will probably drop down the list.
7) PHILADELPHIA FLYERS
The Flyers will jump two spots this week up to Number 7 and for good reason. This team could be actually playing the best hockey in the NHL at this time. They have won 6 in a row and 11 out of their last 14. HC Alain Vigneault has this club playing with lots of confidence and they are now winning on the road. That was something that had plagued this club all year. The Flyers are now only 3 points back for first in the Metro and that is a HUGE accomplishment considering where they were just a month ago. They have 3 games this week and 2-1 will keep them in their spot.
8) PITTSBURGH PENGUINS
All we can say is WTF happened to this club. They have now lost 6 straight games and were embarrassed by the Sharks 5-0 in their last game. They have added many key players including forwards Patrick Marleau from San Jose. They also added Conor Sheary and Evan Rodrigues from Buffalo and that goes along with Jason Zucker that they added a couple of weeks ago. It looks like with all these new additions the Penguins have themselves become a little dysfunctional. They drop all the way down to the Number 8 spot on our list and even with all the potential, they need to start winning games. They have 4 games this week and they need to go 3-1 to keep their number 8 spot, anything less and they will drop to Number 9 or 10.
9) DALLAS STARS
We acknowledged last week that we thought the Stars would have a tough week and they did going 1-2 on the week. That drops them a spot on our list to Number 9. The 2 losses where real tough ones to Boston and then STL in OT. Those two clubs could be playing for Lord Stanley again come June. Things do not get any easier this week as they have 3 games and finish up with a home and home against playoff rival the Nashville Predators. Another bad week for the Stars more than likely knocks them off our list. With 17 games left the Stars are in good shape for a playoff spot but need to start winning as they have gone 3-4 in their last 7 games and that will not cut it come playoff time.
10) NASHVILLE PREDATORS
The Predators keep their spot in the Number 10 position as they finished the week 2-1 and probably deserved a better fate as they lost 3-2 to Colorado at home on Saturday in a game they could have won. There are many teams knocking on the door for the Number 9 and 10 spots. However as long as the Predators keep putting in winning weeks they will stay in this spot. They have 4 games this week with a tough home and home with the Dallas Stars. The special teams for this club have been atrocious and it is a wonder they are in a playoff spot right now. If they ever get that part of the game fixed it is LOOK OUT time. They will need to go 3-1 to keep their spot although 2-2 might get the job done as well.

WEDNESDAY – PHILADELPHIA/WASHINGTON
