Busters Sports will be releasing their Top-10 NHL teams each week of the 2019-20 season. They will not be the top-10 teams in terms of league standings, but what we believe are the teams that are deserving of the top spots in the NHL. Buster Sports dominated the NHL last year with a record of 166-126-9, making their clients a PROFIT OF 115.68%. This year, Buster is hitting at a 61-percent clip (57-37-4) over their last 98 NHL total releases.

Buster’s Top-10 NHL Teams (March 9 – 15)
1) BOSTON BRUINS
The Bruins get our top spot again this week as they have a 2-1 week as they split with the second best team in the East the Tampa Bay Lightning. The Bruins still lead the Eastern Conference by 6 points and lead the NHL in total points by 6 as well. The Bruins play 3 games this week including at home on Saturday against the hated Leafs. As the playoffs near special teams will be a HUGE indicator on a team’s success. The Bruins are #2 on the PP and are #3 on the PK. This makes them very tough to deal with. Only a 0-3 week drops them as they really do look like the best team in the NHL at this time.
2) COLORADO AVALANCHE
The Avalanche finally had a bad week but we will not penalize them as they have won 8 out of their last 10 games. They finished the week 2-2 and have one more game tonight in LA ending a 3 game road trip. That game will be one of 4 games this week for the Avalanche but the other 3 will be at home. Injuries have been a big story for Colorado as Rantanen, Kadri and Grubauer continue to be sidelined. However, the Avalanche have shown amazing depth and that will only help them in their quest to lift the Stanley Cup. The Avalanche only a couple of weeks ago were in the 20’s with their special teams. Today they sit at 15th on the PK and 19th on the PP. If this continues to improve they could easily take over the Blues for best in the West. If the Avalanche finish 2-2 this week they keep their Number 2 spot.
3) TAMPA BAY LIGHTNING
Tampa Bay have a bit of a scare going on as D Victor Hedman is day to day and did not play in yesterdays loss to lowly Detroit. We almost dropped the Lightning one more spot but since we dropped them 2 spots last week we will give them another week to see if they start playing the type of hockey that they will need going into the playoffs. The Lightning have another 4 games this week 2-2 drops them and 3-1 keeps them in their spot. This club has been improving on special teams, but the loss to Detroit yesterday puts them on alert.
4) LAS VEGAS GOLDEN KNIGHTS
The Golden Knights had another 2-1 week last week and now they have won 10 out of 12 games. Very impressive win last night in Calgary and it will be interesting to see if they can do the same tonight against the Oilers. The Edmonton game is one of 3 games that Vegas plays on the road this week. This week is going to be a HUGE test for Vegas as they could easily lose all the games. The special teams are a real concern as we have said many times in this article. If the Golden Knights continue to be 28th on the PK they will have real trouble come playoff time. Right now with only 12 games left they need to make sure they make it. Have a feeling the Blues will be in this Number 4 spot next week. Then again maybe the golden knights will prove me wrong with a big week.
5) ST LOUIS BLUES
“What can we say about the Stanley Cup Champions every time we believe that they are getting ready to fall off our list the Blues go on a winning streak.” This is what we said last week about the Stanley Cup Champions. Now they are really starting to look like the club that fought their way into the playoffs last year. They have now won 9 out of their last 10 games and looked really good in shutting out the Blackhawks last night. The Blues play 4 games this week with a brutal schedule as they go to the West coast for one game mid week, before heading back to St. Louis. With the Flyers on a HUGE streak of their own, 2-2 might not be good enough to keep their spot. Only time will tell, for now they are solidly in the 5th spot.
6) PHILADELPHIA FLYERS
The Flyers keep moving up our list as they jump another spot this week up to Number 6. This team could be actually playing the best hockey in the NHL at this time. This is what we said last week and they won all 3 games this past week and now have won 9 straight. The Flyers streak will be put to the test with 4 games this week. They play both Boston and Tampa Bay. The special teams for the Flyers come in at 12 on the PP and 10th on the PK. Both of these need to be better to keep the Flyers in their spot moving forward. If they win all 4 games we will move them up our list. If they go 1-3 they will drop. Plain and simple.
7) WASHINGTON CAPITALS
The Capitals are really playing some terrible hockey and they drop another spot on our list this week. They went 1-2 on the week and it has been a while since they have had a winning week. They are now on a 5-9 streak in their last 14 games and still are tied for first in the Metro. That is the only reason they are still on our list as we are getting tired of the Capitals playing shit hockey with a great team. They have 3 games this week and they should win all 3. Depending on what other teams do even 2-1 will not save them from dropping another spot. With only 14 games left in the regular season, it is time for this club to show better form. The HUGE start is the only thing keeping the Capitals alive right now.
8) EDMONTON OILERS
The Oilers have made it back to our list and they jump right to position number 8. The Oilers went 3-1 on the week. They are now only 2 points back of the Golden Knights for top spot in the Pacific, who they play at home tonight. They have 4 games in total this week and they need to keep winning as the Western Conference is a total crap shoot when it comes to teams making the playoffs. As it stands the Oilers are only 6 points ahead of teams on the outside looking in. Each one of their next 13 games will be like a playoff game. The Oilers have the best special teams in the NHL as they rank Number 1 on the PP and Number 2 on the PK. We believe that because of these special teams they will be one of the clubs making the playoffs. In what spot they will sit is anyone’s guess.
9) PITTSBURGH PENGUINS
“All we can say is WTF happened to this club.” This is what we said last week and we will second that statement this week. They have now lost 8 out of their last 10 games and just don’t look good at all. HC Sullivan must be pulling his hair out, as his clubs do not play hockey this way. Washington and Carolina embarrassed the Penguins in their last 2 games and this seems to be an on going theme with these Penguins. They play 4 games this week with 3 on the road and they do have the deadly 3 games in 4 nights. With the firepower on this club, they need to do much better than the 16th ranked PP. We are waiting for this club to wake up with only 14 games left it better be sooner than later.
10) NASHVILLE PREDATORS
The Predators keep their spot in the Number 10 position as they finished the week 2-2 and have now only allowed 3 goals in their last 3 games. They play excellent hockey 5 on 5 but as we said last week, the special teams for the Predators are brutal. They have been better on the PK of late killing 15 straight in their last 3 games. However, they still hold the 25th spot on the PP. Nashville continues a 5 game road trip with 4 more games this week. They need to go 3-1 to keep their spot. We believe anything less and they will be off our list as there are many clubs waiting in the wings for that Number 10 spot.
