NHL Preview and Free Pick: Boston Bruins vs. Anaheim Ducks
An inter-conference tilt between two squads heading in opposite directions highlights tonight’s condensed
NHL slate. The Boston Bruins are riding a three-game winning streak as they head to California to face
off with the struggling Anaheim Ducks.

The Bruins were last in action on Tuesday at home versus the Chicago Blackhawks. They skated
away with a 6-3 victory for the team’s third straight win on the home ice. For the season, Boston is
32-17-8 with 72 points and currently sits in 4th place in the Eastern Conference standings, 18 points
behind the conference leading Tampa Bay Lightning.
It has been a trying season for the Ducks, to say the least. The team is just 22-26-9 for the year, good
enough for 53 points, which is just a single point out of the basement in the Western Conference. The
team picked up a 1-0 home victory over the Vancouver Canucks on Wednesday, snapping a painful
seven-game losing streak in the process.
Beyond the current three-game run, the Bruins have been playing really well on an overall basis. The
team is 6-1-3 (5-5 O/U) over its last 10 games. Boston has been decent on the road this season with a
mark of 11-10-4 thus far.
It’s looking like Jaroslav Halak will be between the pipes tonight. He’s 14-9-4 on the year with a
2.38 GAA and .920 save percentage. Halak has just one victory over his last five while allowing 13
goals. Brad Marchand is the team leader with 69 points. Leading goal scorer David Pastrnak is out
with a thumb injury.
The Ducks recent skid is not too far removed from a 12-game winless run. The club is just 3-7-0 (4-6
O/U) over its last 10 contests. Anaheim is finding a little relief at home this season with a record of
11-8-6 to date.
Kevin Boyle is expected to make his second NHL start for the Ducks tonight. He debuted on
Wednesday versus the Canucks, stopping all 35 shots while snagging the win. Ryan Getzlaf is the
team’s top points getter with 36, while Jakob Silfverberg leads the way with 13 goals.
Bruins vs. Ducks Prediction
These teams met back in December in Boston. The Bruins won that game by a score of 3-1. Anaheim
had won the previous nine meetings of the two clubs to that point. Based on the current level of play
for both clubs, that stat is nothing more than a curiosity at this point.
The Bruins are one of the top teams in the east, while the Ducks are battling for the basement in the
west. We’ll take the visitors for the win.
