Nearly a year ago the Nashville Predators secured the franchise’s first-ever Western Conference championship. The Preds did so by completing a 4-2 series victory over the St. Louis Blues with a 3-1 Game 6 victory. After their Conference Finals series victory the Nashville Predators were installed by most Vegas and Offshore sportsbooks as the favorites to win the 2017 Stanley Cup. The World’s Largest Race and Sportsbook have updated their NHL futures and Nashville comes in at 6-to-1 odds to win the 2018 Stanley Cup. And the acquisition of right winger Ryan Hartman was a solid move for the organization. In addition Nashville has six players with 40-plus points and six with 15 or more goals on the season. The play of Pekka Rinne makes the Preds one of the top choices in the West to challenge the East favorite Tampa Bay.

The Lightning were the first skaters in the league to 90 points this season and check in at 5-to-1 to earn this season’s top prize. Furthermore Tampa was active at the trade deadline and upgraded the team’s overall defense by acquiring Ryan McDonagh from the New York Rangers.

Vegas remains the Cinderella story this season.  The play of veteran’s William Karlsson and goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury have combined to be the glue for the expansion franchise.

Especially relevant the Stanley Cup reigning champion Pittsburgh Penguins  opened the season as WestGate’s favorite to take home their third straight title.  The Pens opened at 8-to-1 and come in on the latest update at 6-to-1. The Penguins’ have scuffled as a visitor this season but rank 5th in goals scored and first overall in the league in power play conversions.
