The campus basketball holiday schedule has seen a large number of programs have lengthy lapses from hardwood events due to finals. Villanova (11-0) held serve as No #1 for the second straight week. Michigan State (10-1) remained the No #2 team while receiving 15 first-place votes. Arizona State was voted the top team in the land by five coaches.
Regardless of the coaches poll rankings this week the SuperBook of Las Vegas, WestGate, rates Duke as the team to beat in March. The Devils are 7-to-2 to win the College Basketball Championship the first Monday of April, 2018. Michigan State has climbed their way into the second “most likely” slot in the college basketball futures at WestGate coming in this week at 4-to-1 from an opening 20-to-1 last April.
Despite the Volunteers Top-25 ranking and hard fought loss to last year’s champs, UNC, Tennessee remains 300-to-1 to raise the college hardware as the March Madness winners. The Vols were not considered a threat to even compete in a pedestrian SEC this preseason. The two Tennessee losses this season have come to the past two teams to win the national championship. North Carolina and Villanova.
