As we approach Thanksgiving, teams that have struggled so far this season are losing the “Eh, it’s still early” excuse. Most squads have reached the quarter mark on their schedule. If the playoffs started today, perennial Eastern stalwarts New York, Boston, Philadelphia, and Montreal would all be on the outside looking in. Washington would hold the East’s last playoff spot by a single point despite it’s -5 goal differential on the season. At the Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook, the Tampa Bay Lightning are 6/1 favorites to win the 2017-18 Stanley Cup, followed by Toronto (9/1) and Pittsburgh (10/1).

In the West, things are a lot more crowded. The Saint Louis Blues (6/1 to win the West), Edmonton Oilers (7/1), Chicago Blackhawks (7/1), Nashville Predators (7/1), Dallas Stars (7/1), LA Kings (8/1), and Anaheim Ducks (8/1) all find themselves in a logjam atop the odds sheet. And everyone’s favorite underdog story is still playing strong. The Vegas Golden Knights are currently the 2-seed in the Pacific Division with an 8-1-0 record at home. The Knights are 25/1 to win the West after opening at 100/1.
