The College Football Playoff bracket is set and the four best teams in the campus ranks are set to do battle for the 2018 title. The Alabama Crimson Tide was voted into the final CFP slot on Sunday by the selection committee and as the No #4 seed are the favorites at most Vegas and Offshore sportsbooks to win the final game of this year’s campaign. A number of national media outlets attempted to push drama into the final voting process by naming Ohio State as the more deserving final player in the postseason picture. CBS Sports contributor Ben Kercheval went as far as to state that putting the Crimson Tide over No #5 Ohio State was “the most controversial decision in the young playoff era to date given the contrast in arguments and the brand name programs involved.”

All things being equal what Kercheval suggested in his column was nothing more than an attempt to get remarks on the CBS Sports website. Not only did the committee make the right decision putting Alabama as one of the Top-4 teams best teams but most sportsbook managers agree with the selection committee’s choice. Not only are Nick Saban’s boys deserving of a spot in the January Final Four nearly every global sportsbook store has Alabama as the overwhelming choice to win the college title trophy.

One can make the argument that Vegas creates lines and odds, first and foremost, based on attracting equal investments on both sides of the line or an proportionate share of money in relation to the posted future odds. So writing in this short College Football Odds to Win piece and calling the Tide the “most likely” to win the championship based on the sportsbook odds isn’t 100 percent responsible.

However, putting Alabama at the top of the college football championship futures chart isn’t just about how much of a public darling they are in the betting community it is because if they in fact they defeat Clemson in the semi’s they will be significant favorites in the finals regardless of who they face, be it Oklahoma or Georgia.
