Juventus are coming off a great win in the Italian Super Cup final against AC Milan and pick up where they left off before the winter break. They will now play their third match of the new year on Sunday, when they will play host to bottom-placed Chievo. Chievo have been tragic all season but recorded their first win in their last match before the break.

Juventus (17-0-2) just got back from a trip to Saudi Arabia, where they traveled for the Italian Super Cup final. They created a lot of scoring chances in the first half but had zero shots on the opposing target. It was Cristiano Ronaldo who scored the only goal of the match at the 61st minute for the final 0-1 win for Juventus. Prior to that they beat Bologna by an easy 2-0 on the road in the round of 16 of the Coppa Italia and moved on to the next round. When it comes to the Serie A, Juventus are still leading the league table for one more season. They have 53 points and are still sitting six points ahead of Napoli who have one more match. Juventus have also been great at home (9-0-1), where they have conceded just five goals. They have won each of their last five home matches in all competitions, conceding just once in the process. Juventus will be missing Mandzukic, Barzagli and Pjanic, while Benatia, Bentancur, Costa and Cuadrado are all questionable.
On the other hand, Chievo (1-10-8) are having a really bad season so far but looked quite promising before the winter break. They were not better than their opponents, but managed to score a late goal at home against Frosinone and recorded their first win of the season. Chievo were also in solid shape prior to that match and have now lost just once in their last five (1-1-3). Each of their last five matches regardless of venue featured Under 2.5 Goals. However, they started the season with a -3 point penalty, and they are still pinned at the bottom spot with just 8 points. Oddly enough, they don’t have the worst away record in the league, they have actually grabbed half their points on the road (0-5-4). Each of their last four away matches featured Under 2.5 Goals and Chievo scored in just one of those.
Chievo actually fought hard when they hosted Juventus in the first round but eventually lost by 3-2. Juventus have now won each of the last six against Chievo and and undefeated since 2010. They have been tremendous as hosts and should record an easy win here, but I will take the Under 3 Goals here, as neither team likes to go all out, they are both really defensive overall.
Serie A Juventus vs Chievo Prediction: Under 3 Goals (-115)
