Roma destroyed Entella in the Coppa Italia over the weekend and easily punched their ticket to the next round. They have been in really good shape lately and will now look to extend their winning streak to four when they will host Torino on Saturday. Torino are coming off the opposite result in the Coppa Italia and have generally been pretty unstable lately.
Serie A Inter Milan vs Sassuolo Spread and Prediction
Date/Time: 1-19-2019, 09:00 EST
Spread: Torino +1
Total: 2.75 Goals
Roma (8-5-6) played a really strong match in the round of 16 at home against Entella, beating them by 0-4. They scored a goal in each half and easily cruised towards the quarter-finals of the competitions. In their previous match they destroyed Parma but had to score twice in the second half to win by 2-0. That was their third consecutive win in all competitions, and fourth in their last five (4-1-0). They might have kept clean sheets in their last two, but those are their only ones in their last 14 matches in all competitions. Roma are now sitting at the 6th spot of the league table with 30 points, one ahead of Sampdoria and one behind AC Milan. They have also been pretty solid at home so far (5-1-3), where they have lost just once in their last seven matches in all competitions (5-1-1). Moreover, they have three more wins and a loss there in other competitions.
On the other hand, Torino (6-4-9) fought really hard in their home match against Fiorentina for the Coppa Italia but fell short. They were horrible on the offensive end and failed to record a single shot on the opposing target. They were defending solidly but conceded two late goals in the last five minutes to lose by 2-0. In their last match for the Serie A they split the points in a 1-1 draw on the road against Lazio. They have not been very solid lately, winning just once in their last six matches in all competitions (1-2-3). Torino are sitting at the 9th spot of the league table with 27 points, three behind Roma. Oddly enough, Torino are undefeated on the road so far in the league (2-0-8), having four consecutive draws in their last four and keeping clean sheets in two.
Roma have already recorded a win over Torino this season, a 1-0 on the road. Last season they won both league matches but Torino won by 2-1 on the road in a Coppa Italia match. Roma have been excellent as hosts against Torino over the years (12-2-0) but this could be a tricky task.
Torino have yet to lose on the road so far in the season, a feat that only Juventus have managed so far. Even if they lose it will be marginal, so I will back Torino to cover the spread here.
