Atletico Madrid overcame a pretty mediocre start in the season and have actually been really great lately. They will now look to extend their solid form when they will play host to Athletic Bilbao on Saturday. Athletic Bilbao are having a pathetic season so far and are really struggling to get results. They haven’t won since the opening day and are traditionally weak on the road.

Spread: Atletico Madrid -1

Total: 2 Goals

Atletico Madrid (5-1-5) are coming off a revenge 0-2 win at home against Borussia Dortmund in their last match. They had lost by a harsh 0-4 in the previous match against the same opponent but restored balanced to the group, as they are now tied for 1st place. When it comes to the La Liga, Atletico Madrid played for a really bad 1-1 draw on the road against Leganes last week, in a match where the most fair outcome was the draw. Atletico Madrid have been really solid lately, and have lost just once in the past two months (8-1-4). They are now sitting at the 4th spot of the league table with 20 points, just as many as Sevilla and Alaves. Atletico Madrid have been excellent at home for one more season (6-0-1 in all competitions), where they have conceded just two goals.

On the other hand, Athletic Bilbao (1-3-7) played a pretty balanced match on the road against Espanyol last week but failed to get any points. Their opponents scored the only goal of the match at the 40th minute and left Athletic Bilbao in the dust. That means that they are now without a win since a 1-2 at home against Leganes in the premiere. Six of their last nine matches have been draws, and five of those were goal draws. They have only failed to score in three of their matches so far, but have only kept a single clean sheet in the process. Athletic Bilbao are now sitting at the 17th spot of the league table with 10 points, just one ahead of Leganes. They traditionally don’t do well on the road, and this season they have yet to win after five attempts (0-1-4). Their first four away matches were goal-draws before that 0-1 loss to Espanyol.

Atletico Madrid won both matches against Athletic Bilbao last season, by 2-1 on the road before an easy 0-2 in this venue. They have dominated this match-up in recent years and are undefeated since 2013 (10-0-2). Atletico Madrid have also been excellent as hosts against Athletic Bilbao in the past couple of decades (12-4-4) and are undefeated here since 2011 (8-0-1).

Moreover, they have only conceded just three goals in that span. Atletico Madrid might be missing some key players here but they can certainly extend their strong streak against a struggling Athletic Bilbao side.
