Barcelona saw their winning streak come to an end in Italy on Tuesday, but remained undefeated for the ninth consecutive match. They will now return home for their next assignment, where they will play host to Betis on Sunday, for the La Liga. Betis fought really hard to avoid the defeat in their last match but have not been very stable lately. Matches in three competitions are starting to accumulate fatigue on Betis’ players and it is slowly starting to show.

Spread: Barcelona -2

Total: 3.75 Goals

Barcelona (7-1-3) were excellent in their away match against Inter Milan in the Champions League. Despite their dominance though, they took the lead at the 83rd minute but failed to grab three points, as they conceded a late goal for the final 1-1. Last week in the La Liga they took the lead on the road against Rayo Vallecano. But they had to come back from one goal behind later in the match to eventually win by 3-2. They are now undefeated in their last eight matches in all competitions (6-0-2) but have kept just two clean sheets in their last 10. Barcelona are still sitting at the top of the La Liga with 24 points, featuring the best offense in the league with 31, but also the 4th worst defense with 14 conceded. They have been undefeated at home after eight matches in all competitions (6-0-2) but have kept just three clean sheets.

On the other hand, Betis (3-4-4) made a tremendous effort to avoid the loss at home against Celta last week, despite taking a two-goal lead. Their opponents quickly pulled even and actually claimed the lead at the 84th minute, but Betis scored a late goal for the final 3-3. Betis have been in really mediocre form lately, winning just two of their last six (2-3-1). They are now sitting at the 14th spot of the league table with 13 points, featuring the 2nd worst offense with just 8 goals, but also the 4th best defense with just 12 conceded. They have a 1-2-2 away record in the La Liga, and have also recorded a win and a draw for the Europa League. The win was a 2-1 against Milan and the draw was a blank against Olympiacos Piraeus.

Barcelona easily won both matches against Betis last season, by 0-2 here before a massive 5-0 on the road. Their last loss to Betis dates back to 2011 in the second leg of the Copa del Rey tie that saw Barcelona through nonetheless. The last league win for Betis dates back to 2008, with Barcelona having dominated the match-up ever since (11-0-3). Moreover, Betis have not won here in the past two decades (15-0-2), with Barcelona having won each of the last nine.

Barcelona have a very deep roster and can deal with whatever fatigue they might have from the Champions League. Betis also played a Europa League match on Thursday and will surely carry some tiredness. Barcelona are on track for an easy win here and there is no reason to suggest otherwise.
