Real Madrid have been going through a rough patch lately, with a massive loss in El Clasico against Barcelona and the sacking of coach Lopetegui. But they bounced back to winning ways in the Copa del Rey on Wednesday and will now have a sneaky task on Saturday, when they will host Valladolid. Valladolid have been the surprise package of the La Liga this season and are actually sitting above Real Madrid in the league table.

Spread: Real Madrid -2

Real Madrid (4-4-2) are coming off a pretty solid win on the road against Melilla in the Copa del Rey, whom they blasted by 4-0. Prior to that they met a devastating loss on the road against Barcelona, where they fell by a massive 1-5. Real Madrid have been in pathetic form in over a month, having lost five of their eight matches in that span (2-5-1). They are now sitting at the 9th spot of the league table with 14 points, having scored 14 goals against 14 conceded. At least they have been excellent at home so far, winning five of their seven matches in all competitions (5-1-1). Moreover, they have kept four clean sheets in that span.
On the other hand, Valladolid (4-2-4) have been spectacular in their return to the La Liga after five seasons. They are coming into this match after a nice 2-1 away win against Mallorca in the Copa del Rey and moved to the next round. Last week they split the points in a 1-1 draw at home against Espanyol in the La Liga. That means that Valladolid are now undefeated in their last seven matches in all competitions, winning five in the process (5-0-2) and keeping three clean sheets in the process. Oddly enough, Valladolid are one of three teams to have not lost on the road so far (2-0-3), where they are also tied for the best defense (3 conceded). To be more precise, they have kept four clean sheets and conceded all three goals in a 3-3 draw against Celta.
The two teams last met in the 2013/14 season, where Real Madrid destroyed Valladolid by 0-4 in this venue, before a 1-1 draw in the other match. Valladolid’s last win over Real Madrid dates back to 2008, where they won by 0-1 at home. Since then, Real Madrid have won six of the seven matches but kept just two clean sheets in the process.
This can easily be the upset of the week, with the odds being completely out of place here. The bookmakers don’t seem to respect a very feisty team like Valladolid, who are more than capable of pulling something here. But Real Madrid are dying to find some stability and might destroy their opponents here. But they have conceded easy goals at home, and Valladolid might be able to squeeze a goal here. I will take the goals from both sides in a match that can easily go either way.
