Valencia have had a really peculiar season in the La Liga so far and are still sitting at the bottom half of the league table. They have been distracted by Champions League duties throughout the whole season so far but now that that’s out of the equation they will strive to be better. Valencia will now have a great opportunity to return to winning ways when they will host new-comers Huesca on Sunday. Huesca have been one the weakest teams in the La Liga this season and should not be a threat here.

Spread: Huesca +1.25
Valencia (3-3-10) have fought really hard in the Champions League this season and that has taken a toll on their La Liga duties. They did beat Manchester United by 1-2 at home last week but it was not enough to see them through to the next round of the competition. But they finished 3rd and will advance to the Europa League knock-out round. In their last match for the La Liga, Valencia played for a 1-1 draw on the road against Eibar. They took an early lead but were equalized at the start of the second half for the final 1-1. Despite their struggles, Valencia are now undefeated in their last four (2-0-2), keeping just a single clean sheet though. They are now sitting at the 14th spot of the league table with 19 points, featuring the worst offense with 13 goals but also the 2nd best defense with 13 conceded. Oddly enough, they have won just once at home but have also lost just once so far in the league (1-1-6). They also have three wins and a loss at home in other competitions, with just three of their 12 home matches overall featuring Over 2.5 Goals.
On the other hand, Huesca (1-10-5) have been really bad in the La Liga so far and they are clearly not ready to play in this competition. However, they played a really good match last week at home, where they split the points in a 2-2 draw against Villarreal. The match had it all, three penalty kicks and a couple of late goals. Their opponents were left with 10 men when the score was at 1-1 but Huesca failed to score from the spot. They had to score a goal deep into the stoppage time in order to salvage a point from that very weird match. That draw put an end to Huesca’s four-match losing streak prior to that but didn’t change their position. Huesca are still stuck at the bottom of the La Liga with 8 points, featuring the 2nd worst offense with 14 goals and the worst defense with 32 conceded. They have actually grabbed half their points on the road (1-6-1), scoring 8 goals while conceding 21. But they have lost seven matches in a row on the road, conceding at least twice on six occasions and only scoring on four.
Valencia were surely distracted by having to play in other competitions as well, but they look much better now. They have actually been really solid all season and even though they can’t find easy wins, they don’t lose easily either. Huesca will be feeling lucky if they don’t meet a bad loss in this venue.
Valencia are always really competitive at home and they now have a great chance to extend their undefeated streak. Huesca did great in their last match but it was at home – they are really weak on the road. I will go with Valencia to cover the spread on this one.
