College Football Championship Odds from Las Vegas

If you thought the College Football Playoff committee struggled to select its teams during normal years, what is this process going to look like in a shortened 2020 season?! It appears that most conferences will attempt to play a league-only schedule this fall, trimming their regular season from 13 games to ten. With no non-conference games to look at and with less data points to analyze, finding this year’s CFP participants could be a crapshoot.

Tony Finn’s 2020 AFC South Preview and Predictions

Tony Finn's 2020 AFC South Preview and Predictions

AFC South Betting Preview from Las Vegas

The AFC South has been the lowest-rated division in the Finn Factor rankings for eight of the last ten years. The last time the South was not at the bottom of Finn’s American Football Conference divisional ratings was 2018. Indianapolis was readying for the return of Andrew Luck, and the Houston Texans were confident that a healthy Deshaun Watson would start the ’18-’19 season behind center at 100 percent. Also, Titans’ QB Marcus Mariota figured to rebound from a dismal 2017 campaign. Tennessee GM Jon Robinson upgraded the chances of the team’s Sunday success by parting ways with then-coach Mike Mularkey. Even the downtrodden Jacksonville Jaguars had hope of finishing the season with a record in the neighborhood of .500 or better with one of the league’s best defenses. As has been the case for most of the last ten seasons, the South lacks a genuine title contender.

AFC East Betting Preview from Las Vegas

The AFC East title chase will go to the organization that can navigate the non-divisional portion of the regular season schedule. Odds are that the team that receives the most consistent play from the starting quarterback will earn the division title and a slot in the postseason tournament. The recent signing of Cam Newton makes the New England Patriots relevant in the East despite the loss of Tom Brady. Both the Patriots and Miami Dolphins are the most likely East squads to use multiple signal-callers in 2020.
