LA Kings at Vegas Golden Knights Preview & Prediction

With the trade deadline now passed and the end of the regular season in sight, we are going to get a very clear look at which teams are likely to make a run when the postseason begins. Now is the time when we see teams start to step it up a gear and open up on the pack, hoping that the momentum that begins now will carry on over into the quest for a Stanley Cup. There are a few teams in the league who are starting to put together some impressive winning streaks, including the defending champion St. Louis Blues, who have now reeled off 7 straight wins. As good as that run is, it’s not the most impressive streak in the NHL at the moment. That accolade belongs to the Vegas Golden Knights, who are on a run that has seen them win 8 in a row. The Pacific Division is still relatively tight, though, so the Knights will be looking to keeping things rolling when they host the LA Kings on Sunday night. Vegas are favored by 1 ½ on home ice, with the goal total set at 5 ½.

Why bet on the LA Kings

The LA Kings are a team just waiting for the season to end given that it has been a bit of a disaster for them. They are currently sitting at the bottom of the Pacific Division and have the worst record in the Western Conference. The Kings are 24-35-6 on the season, well adrift of the rest of the pack in the West. They are, though, on a decent run of form right now, winning back to back games and going 5-4-1 in their last 10. That kind of form has been the exception rather than the norm for the Kings, so we probably should not expect it to last. That said, as far apart as these two teams are in the standings, LA has taken 2 of 3 from Vegas this season. The Kings are just 9-22-4 on the road this season.

Why bet on the Vegas Golden Knights

The Vegas Golden Knights are only in their third season in the league, but it has been a successful start to things for them. They made it all the way to the Stanley Cup Final in their inaugural season and were also playoff bound last year. It looks as though it is going to be more of the same this season, as the Golden Knights appear to be getting stronger as the season progresses. They come into this game on a run of 8 straight wins, while going 8-1-1 in their last 10 games. The Golden Knights have been particularly good in their own building, going 21-10-4 on home ice. Their current tun of form has moved them to the tip of the Pacific Division, where they are now 4 points up on their closest challenger.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

The Golden Knights are about as hot as it gets right now, and while the Kings are playing better hockey of late, they still look to be in over their heads here. I am on the Golden Knights to win and cover the spread.
