The Houston Rockets and the San Antonio Spurs both come in on the latest WestGate Race and Sportsbook future odds at 10-to-11 to win the Southwest division. Had Houston found a way to work a deal with the New York Knicks for Carmelo Anthony they would likely have earned the favorite role on WestGate’s futures chart.

The news today that the Knicks and Oklahoma City Thunder agreed on a deal that sends 10-time All-Star forward Anthony to the Thunder in exchange for center Enes Kanter, forward Doug McDermott and a 2018 second-round Draft pick, is likely disappointing to the Houston front office.

The Rockets have pursed Anthony and a deal with the Knicks most of the summer with the aim to combine the shooting forward with guards Chris Paul and James Harden. Houston failed to interest the Knicks with offers that included shooting forward Ryan Anderson reportedly due to his current three-year $60 million contract.
