We’re back with our second year of This Weekend in Soccer and once again I’ll post 2 or 3 selections in Europe’s top leagues EPL, Serie A, Bundesliga, Ligue 1 and La Liga with selections ranging from Totals, BTTS (Both teams to score) and Full-time winners. Check back each week for the article along with promo’s and remember to follow on twitter for info and free plays.
EPL (Saturday August 12th)
Bournemouth at West Brom
It’s Bournemouth and West Brom on Saturday and a play on the Under 2.5 as the season kicks off. Home side West Brom defending well at home last season but did so while sacrificing their attack as can be seen in 4 consecutive 1-0 defeats to end their season and 7 of their final 10 going under the total. Bournemouth opened their away season last year with 1-0 and 1-1 matches. We look for a similar result Saturday. The Prediction is Under 2.5 -132
EPL (Saturday August 12th)
Stoke City at Everton
A new season at Everton and one with some significant changes as the summer transfer saw their top scorer Lukaku leave for Manchester United while Wayne Rooney returns to Everton on a summer transfer and despite the loss of Lukaku this Everton side look balanced defensively and with the signing of goalkeeper Pickford and defender Michael Keane from Burnley they again will become a side that is difficult to score against at home. Last season they allowed only 16 at home (only Tottenham 9 and Man United 12 allowed fewer). Against a typically poor away side Stoke City we’ll take Everton to open the season with a win. The Prediction is Everton -145
France Ligue 1 (Sunday August 22nd)
PSG at Guingamp
All eyes will be on PSG Sunday as they hit the road after a season opening win and it’ll be the first appearance of the biggest summer signing as Neymar Jr starts for the visitors after the largest ever transfer ($222 million) from Barcelona earlier this month. We’ll look at the total here as these teams have combined 18 goals and 4 overs their past 5 meetings including last season’s 2-1 home win by Guingamp which highlighted PSG’s struggles away from home. We can expect PSG to be prohibitive favorites throughout the Ligue 1 season but defensively they still have some questions so it’ll be a play on the total and Over on Sunday. The Prediction is OVER 3 -117
