Dallas Wings have a 0-1 record this season. And the Wings fell to the Mercury on the road in their last game by a 78-86 margin. Last season they had a 16-18 record (18-16 ATS) and were placed 4th in the Western Conference 7th overall in the league. In the playoffs they got eliminated in the first round by the Washington Mystics with an 86-76 score. They are led in scoring by Liz Cambage with 18 ppg. Cambage adds a team high 9 rebounds per game. She is followed by Skylar Diggins-Smith with 18 ppg as well, adding 6 rebounds and a team high 9 assists per game, while Glory Johnson adds 12 ppg and 8 rebounds per game.
Atlanta Dream finished last season with a 12-22 record. The Dream tied with Chicago for the second to last spot of the East standings. And overall Atlanta finished third to last across the entire WNBA. They had back-to-back defeats to finish last season. They were led in scoring by Tiffany Hayes with 16.3 ppg, adding 3.8 rebounds per game. She was followed by Brittney Sykes with 13.9 ppg and 4.1 rebounds, while Layshia Clanderon added 10.7 ppg and a team high of 226 total assists.
Wings led the Dream 2-1 wins last season with each having won at home. The previous game in Dallas ended with a 90-86 score. Wings were 10-7 at home last season, while Dream were 3-14 on the road. Wings had the best offense in the league last season with 86.2 ppg to Dream’s third-worse of 78.9 but they also had the worse defense, allowing 88.8 ppg to Dream’s 82.7.
Team Dream had the worse 3-point percentage in the league, shooting with 29.1% to Wings’ 31.9%, while both teams had almost identical field goal percentage (40.9% to 40.6%). Dream were better in rebounding (35.1 to 34.5), in assists made (17.6 to 15.7) and in turnovers committed (13.2 to 13.8). Dream were one of the worst road teams last season and Vegas odds give Wings a -4.5 spread and expect them to beat the odds for the home victory.
