Two teams that are coming off opposite results in Group C will now clash against one another. Denmark got a somewhat lucky win against Peru, while Australia are coming off a frustrating loss against France. Denmark probably didn’t deserve to win, while Australia didn’t deserve to lose. Let’s see how these two teams will react to that first round of matches.  World Cup Denmark vs Australia Spread and Prediction.

Date/Time: 6-21-2018, 08:00 EDT

Spread: Denmark -0.5

Total: 2 Goals

Denmark were really lucky in their first match of the group against Peru. They had some tough luck at the 35th minute when Kvist left the pitch due to an injury. Peru were awarded a penalty kick at the end of the first half, but Cueva failed to convert. Peru were actually the better team in the pitch, but Denmark scored the only goal of that match at the 59th minute. Poulsen got a feed from Eriksen and essentially gave his team a solid boost in the qualifying chase. However, Denmark must be much better in their other two matches which shall not be easy at all.

On the other hand, Australia actually looked France in the eye when the two met in the first match. Australia were really good in the defensive end and held France to nil throughout the first half. However, Australia conceded a penalty kick by Griezmann at the 58th minute, only to answer with a penalty kick of their own just four minutes later. France was really stressed as Australia were holding for the 1-1 draw. Even so, a lucky shot by Paul Pogba at the 81st minute forced an own goal by Behic, as Australia left empty-handed.

Denmark will be feeling lucky about the result of their first match, where they practically stole the 3 points. Australia will be feeling robbed themselves, as they fought really hard against France but lost.

I wouldn’t underestimate Australia at all in this match, and the lines are all messed up in my opinion. Australia are a really tough group, and this is going to be a very physical clash with the sturdy Danish. Australia can easily grab at least one point from this affair.

World Cup Denmark vs Australia Prediction: Australia +0.5 (+102)
