England were one of the few big names that didn’t suffer upsets in the first round of this World Cup. They did require a late goal by Harry Kane in order to do so, but they looked pretty solid overall. They will now look for their second three-pointer of the competition when they will clash against Panama on Sunday. Panama are one of the weakest teams in the competition, and that showed against Belgium. They only held strong for the first half, but Panama eventually fell apart in the second. World Cup England vs Panama Spread and Prediction.
Date/Time: 6-24-2018, 08:00 EDT
Spread: Panama +1.75
Total: 2.5 Goals
England fulfilled every fan’s dream on Monday, when they started their World Cup bid with a win over Tunisia. England were in total control throughout the whole match, but somewhat struggled to get that win. They entered the match with a lot of confidence, as Harry Kane took the lead at just the 11th minute. Tunisia had to substitute goalkeeper Ben Mustapha who suffered an injury at the 16th minute. However, they pulled even at the 35th minute from the penalty spot. England were not very active in the second half, but it was Harry Kane to the rescue once again, scoring the winning goal at the stoppage time. England must tweak their midfield in order to be better against Panama, with Belgium waiting at the end of the tunnel.
On the other hand, Panama fought really hard against a much better Belgium side on Monday but suffered a tough loss. The first half was an uphill struggle for Panama, who but they managed to keep their opponents at bay. However, they eventually conceded the first goal at the start of the second half by Mertens. The two teams were engaged in a really physical match after that, with 5 yellow cards being added to the three from the first half. Romely Lukaku eventually scored two more goals in a six-minute span to hand Panama a slap in the face. Panama will now have to deal with England, and I expect them to be as physical as they were against Belgium.
England might have won their first match, but they really need to make some changes in their lineup. Panama is a great opponent to try some changes against, as they looked pretty weak against Belgium.
England should not have a problem here, as long as they keep feeding Harry Kane. However, other players must step up, as England are somewhat lacking some top quality in the midfield. Panama will try to play spoiler here, through massive defense. England might struggle to score against this side.
