Two teams that cause massive upsets in Group H will now clash against one another, when Japan will clash against Senegal. Japan played the biggest spoiler of the two, as they defeated Colombia. We talked about how Senegal were ready to grab at least one point from that match, but they ended up getting three. They effectively defended against Robert Lewandowski and are now at the top of the group. Both teams are at the top now, and whoever wins this will probably go through to the next round.  World Cup Japan vs Senegal Spread and Prediction.

Date/ Time: 6-24-2018, 11:00 EDT

Spread: Japan +0.25

Total: 2 Goals

Japan really lucked out against Colombia, but they confidently took advantage of the situation at hand. Colombia were left with 10 men at just the 3rd minute, when Carlos Sanchez was sent off for a handball. Shinji Kagawa converted the penalty kick to a goal at the 6th minute, and Japan had a massive shot at the three points. They were equalized at the 39th minute, and Colombia really tried to hold on to the result. However, Osako took the lead for Japan once again at the 73rd minute, giving Japan a tremendous win. They are not safe just yet though, as this is the group of death and anything can happen.

On the other hand, Senegal pulled somewhat of an upset against Poland in the first match. They were actually the underdogs to win that match, but we successfully predicted that they would stay competitive. However, it wasn’t the prettiest of matches, with neither team recording a shot on target in the first half. Even so, Senegal took the lead at the 37th minute when Cionek scored an own goal for Poland. The second half was slightly in favor of Colombia, but Senegal doubled their lead at the 60th minute. All Poland managed to do since that point was to score a consolation goal at the 86th minute for the final 2-1.

Both teams defeating Colombia and Poland respectively set fire to what already was the most difficult group in the World Cup. Neither team would be unhappy with a draw in this match, as Colombia and Poland will be locking horns just hours later.

However, if any of the two teams wins here they would automatically have the most chances to qualify. I would go with the Over 2 Goals here, but both teams took lucky leads in the first matches. I feel that we will see a much more careful match between the two sides here, with Senegal having more chances to cover the spread.
